A vampire feeding on passersby in the dark of night forgets something crucial, and her prey is left with a lot to think about.

All characters in my stories are adults.

Sylvia lay back against the bench, enjoying the gentle sensation of raindrops on her face as she stared up at the clouded night sky. Though the distant sound of a busy highway permeated the city’s atmosphere, the road in front of her was empty, a single dim lamppost illuminating the bus stop.

She wasn’t waiting for a ride, though. Bus stops were always a good place to wait for prey. She could be reasonably sure someone would eventually come by, even this late into the night, but the stop was rarely so crowded as to give her trouble with witnesses.

She sighed wistfully as she waited in the rain. It’d been a few weeks since she got to drink from someone, and the thirst was getting to her... a few more days, and she wasn’t sure she’d be able to contain herself. She caught a few raindrops on her tongue, but they didn’t do much to make the vampire feel less thirsty.

Just be patient... you can be patient. Someone will arrive, and you’ll get to drink them dry... dry? N-no, no, that’s a little too much... the thought startled her. The thirst was getting to her... maybe she’d waited too long... she really needed to get some blood in her before she started losing control. Before anyone got... hurt.

No, all she needed was a few quick drinks. Nothing enough to hurt anyone, as long as she kept her composure. She took a deep breath, trying to reassure herself. She’d done this hundreds of times; it would be easy. Drink as much as you need, and no more.

The sound of footsteps on the pavement brought her back to reality. A figure in a dark hoodie with a backpack slung over their shoulder could be made out through the rain, slowly coming towards the stop. They weren’t particularly stocky, but enough that Sylvia suspected they’d do alright even with a few drinks of blood missing...

Megan cringed as she sat down on the bench, putting together just moments too late that her seat was drenched in the nighttime rain, the uncomfortable sensation of cold wet pants setting in and dampening her mood considerably. She let out a slow and dreary sigh, resigning herself to this fate for the next half hour or so. It wouldn’t be long before her ride home arrived, would it?

After the hours spent slaving away at her day job, she was desperate to get home and crash into bed. So long spent standing there on her aching feet while customer after customer dumped their problems onto her... a good night’s sleep was within her grasp, if only the bus would get here. So close. So close...

The woman on the other side of the bench shifted a bit, catching Megan’s attention. As dark as the night was, she could make out this woman’s face quite well; long dark hair framed a pale, pretty face, with deep red lips and eyes hidden in the shadows of her bangs, cast by the lamplight above. She might’ve noticed the fangs were it not for the lamppost’s long, dark shadows hanging over them.

The pretty woman noticed Megan staring, and gave her a slight smile.

“Nice night, isn’t it?”

Megan blinked, not realizing how long she’d let herself admire the lady. She blushed slightly, her voice cracking as she squeaked out, “Y-yeah! Um, yeah. It’s alright.”

She usually didn’t get caught off guard like that, but this woman was... disarming. Just something about her...

“Could I ask you something?” the woman asked, unprompted. She was making eye contact now, her striking red eyes hard to meet; Megan’s gaze drifted away slightly, as she found herself a little too shy to look back. This woman made Megan feel... well, a lot of things. Megan didn’t like making eye contact. Too intense for her. She awkwardly mumbled, “...um, okay? What is it?”

...wait, red eyes?

Sylvia scooted a little closer on the bench, her gentle smile putting Megan at ease. Her hand reached out, gingerly, towards Megan’s cheek. Before she could get a word in edgewise, or realize how normally put off by such close behaviour she’d be, Megan was cut off by the woman’s soothing voice, saying,

"Look at me."

Her gaze was pulled back towards the woman’s red eyes, without thinking, and once their eyes met, Megan found she couldn’t pull her eyes away. She felt... almost paralyzed, frozen there, as she took in the full view of her captor’s pretty face. Though focused squarely on the deep red eyes, she finally noticed the fangs in her peripheral vision as the vampire’s lips curled into a smile.

A vampire... chills went down Megan’s spine. It occurred to her to run, but her body wouldn’t move, and she felt strangely soothed by the woman’s presence; after such an exhausting day, she scarcely had the energy left to even struggle. She felt fear, but not much of it - apprehension giving way to an intoxicating sensation as the vampire started to scoot a little closer, one hand on Megan’s shoulder and one gently cupping her chin.

Mm... yes, that’s right. Very good,” Sylvia intoned. She could feel a little bit of a shiver in her prey’s body as the words sank in. Megan was blushing now, unable to fight back; she felt conflicted, torn between fright and anticipation. She’d been caught by a vampire... was it going to bite her? Drink from her? Would that hurt?

She managed to speak through her flustered mix of emotions. “...are you... w-what are you going to do to me?”

Sylvia chuckled warmly, softly caressing Megan’s cheek with her thumb. She pulled back Megan’s hood, revealing a round face adorned with a mop of messy brown hair. “Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m just going to have a little drink, take you home, and this will all seem like a bad dream afterwards.”

Bad dream... it didn’t seem so bad to Megan. As the vampire’s gaze kept her utterly transfixed, it was harder and harder to hold onto any defiance or worry; her gentle, silky smooth voice washed over Megan’s mind and swept away her silly, unimportant thoughts. The vampire seemed to radiate one thing above all else - power. Power over Megan, over what seemed like everything. Her vision was bathed in a dark crimson, everything besides the gorgeous vampire fading away.

Sylvia pulled her prey closer. She could feel the warm, tantalizing blood flushing through Megan’s face. Making her feel so very thirsty. She knew it was a bad habit to toy with her prey; it made it all the more difficult to keep control of herself, but... it made the blood so much sweeter...

“What pretty prey you are...” a sinister, sultry smile spread across her face, making Megan’s blush deepen. “Mmmm... yess, just like that. Look at you, helplessly ensnared, so docile, so ready to let me feast on you...~”

The words sank into Megan’s mind, and she accepted them as unquestionably true. That smile... Megan felt her breathing quicken, exhilarated at the prospect of this irresistible woman finding her pretty, holding complete and utter power over her, doing whatever she wanted as Megan could only sit and stare.

Sylvia’s smirk widened, and she leaned in closer... Megan could feel the vampire’s warm breath on her neck, making her shiver with anticipation. She really did want to let her captor drink from her. It was all she wanted. She knew her thoughts were being manipulated, warped by the hypnotic powers of those overpowering red eyes, but she didn’t care. Couldn’t care. Take it. Take it all...

When the fangs sank into her neck, she was expecting pain. She wasn’t expecting it to feel so... perfect. Waves of powerful pleasure washed over her as she could feel her blood slipping away. The stinging pain was swept away by the ecstasy taking hold of her. Lost in a blissful daze as her eyelids fluttered...

Sylvia indulged herself, probably for too long. Just a little more. So, so sweet. She really should stop, she thought, still craving just a little bit more blood, then she’d be satiated...

She realized her prey’s face had gone pale, drained of color, and finally managed to pull herself away. Emotions were rushing through her. Finally feeding after so long felt heavenly, and yet... as her head cleared, no longer so clouded with temptation and thirst, she realized just how much she’d drank. A pang of guilt hit her as she looked over the girl’s dazed, delirious smile.

She quickly placed a handkerchief on Megan’s neck, staunching any further bleeding. Vampire bites were far from fatal by themselves, but you didn’t want to leave them open. The poor girl was too drained to be left here alone. Sylvia would need to tend to her more closely.

She smiled, softly running her fingers across her prey’s scalp. Yes, she would be perfectly alright. She just needed a little more intimate care before it was safe for her to go on her way.

“What’s your name, dear? Let’s take you someplace safe.” It took a moment for Megan to process her words; her mind was so very hazy, like her thoughts were moving through molasses. Thinking through both the blissful trance and the blood loss was just too much for her, and she managed only a little incoherent mumbling.

Sylvia couldn’t help but giggle a little, watching this. Perhaps the girl needed to be directed more firmly... she assumed a more commanding tone. “Tell me your name.”

A direct order got through to her brain more clearly. The girl’s eyes fluttered a little, coming to focus on the vampire as her expression changed to one of recognition.

“...m..my name’s.. Megannn...” She slowly obeyed. She was ever so eager to obey. It was the only thing left in her clouded, lightheaded mind.

“That’s a good girl. Now, Megan, you’re going to come with me.” Sylvia lifted her up, as the girl was clearly too out of it to walk. Megan simply nodded, smiling, the concept of resisting long gone from her mind. She was perfectly happy to let the beautiful woman carry her away.

What a cute little thing... she looked so peaceful in her trance, limp in Sylvia’s arms with an utterly docile smile on her face. She vaguely registered the feeling of raindrops on her face, the sound of Sylvia’s soft footsteps, and the distant headlights of the bus driving on past in her peripheral vision.

The bus... she remembered she was supposed to be waiting for that. The sound of it passing caused her to stir just a little, as some part of her brain realized she didn’t want to miss it. She looked up at the gorgeous vampire, though her body felt too heavy to try any sort of escape, and she wasn’t nearly lucid enough to even want to do so.

The vampire began asking questions, and Megan managed to answer through her haze; where she lived, whether anyone else lived with her... she felt a little confused. This was... pretty personal information, not something she should be giving out to a stranger. And yet, it felt so natural trusting this woman. Telling her whatever she asked, truthfully, without hesitation.

The final command Megan received was to close her eyes, and she was out like a light.

Sylvia finally arrived at her abode, an out-of-the-way old house with boarded-up windows, and a falling-apart look. Though she did technically own the place, it was kept in such condition on purpose; she didn’t want it to look like anyone actually lived there, and the boarded windows kept the sun away, along with thick black curtains on the inside. Still, she didn’t want to be awake and wandering during the day, even inside the house - darkened rays of sunlight still filtered through in some spots, and weakened sunlight could still be dangerous for a full vampire.

She checked her phone. Only about 3:30 in the morning... she was feeling full, and tonight’s prey was back in its own bed, sleeping soundly after having a nice meal to help her blood sugar levels. Yet, Sylvia couldn’t feel like she’d forgotten something. She entered the house, notably nicer on the inside than the outside, and slipped down into a pitch-black basement, closing the door behind her. She could see in the dark perfectly well, though she supposed if any mortals ever visited they might have a difficult time.

She was fed... her prey was safe at home... what was it she was forgetting? It was on the tip of her tongue. As she laid down on her lavish, curtained bed, even the blissfully soft mattress and the soothing sound of rain on the outside of the house wasn’t enough to make her feel sleepy. She just couldn’t shake the feeling it was really important. She furrowed her brow, annoyed, wracking her brain for minutes on end. There was a step she was missing, somewhere. But she was always so careful...

It finally hit her as thunder cracked outside. She hadn’t wiped Megan’s memories of their encounter! The girl would wake up tomorrow morning with full recollection of being bitten by a vampire. Would she be distraught? Angry? Feel violated or hurt? She might even tell others what happened, though it was doubtful many people would believe her.

Sylvia groaned, exhausted. She couldn’t risk going back outside this close to morning... and she’d gotten so comfy in bed... no. This was a problem for tomorrow night’s Sylvia. She’d check up on that sweet girl and make it like nothing ever happened, just like every mortal she’d bitten for years.

Despite her doubts, the soft bed and the gentle rain managed to lull her into a pleasant, silent sleep.
