A few questionably safe road maneuvers and at least one run red light later, Jenna arrived at her job and quickly ran to the back room, just as the clock inside rang 5. Trish was just preparing to mark her down as tardy when she burst in. "I'M HERE! IN TIME!" Trish looked at her disapprovingly. "I suppose. But next time, remember that you need to get here at least 15 minutes early, especially when we are so short staffed and-" Jenna hastily nodded her head. "Yep got it sorry just had a long day bit of a commute traffic was bad you know anyway I'll get to work now!" She grabbed her uniform and ran to her job post before Trish could lecture her more.

Naturally, the store was basically dead today. Absolutely not a day where they needed to have this many cashiers on duty, but whatever. Jenna leaned against the counter, trying and failing to remember literally anything. Previously she just assumed it was an intense night at a club, but, well, once she saw a demon and angel literally manifesting themselves before her eyes that explanation seemed unlikely. Maybe this was all a dream? Or some particularly devious hypnotic suggestions? Whatever it was, she couldn't focus on that right now, someone was coming up her lane. "Hello, did you find everyth-" "Guardian Jenna, please do not run away from your responsibilities like that!" Jenna recoiled, and quickly lowered her voice. "Whah- Huh- What are you doing at my work?!"

The angel and demon had affected human disguises, the Ophanim resembling a socialite with a fluffy white dress and several golden rings, while the Hellhound had on a ripped red jacket and jeans and spikes all over her outfit. Behind them, Princess was currently wearing a large rainbow faux-feather boa with the price tag still on and chattering to her completely enamored sub. "Why couldn't you wait to speak with me?! I can't speak with friends while on the job, especially while you're holding up the line!" The Ophanim looked at her imperiously. "Your duties are of far more importance than this job! And, uh, besides," She glanced back at Princess, beckoning her forward, "we are technically here to buy something..." Jenna sighed and scanned the boa."That'd be $2.17." The Ophanim smiled and reached into a pocket. "This should suffice, Guardian Jenna." She handed Jenna a shimmering, diamond-studded gold coin that glowed with an inner light. It was truly beautiful. But... "...I don't think that's legal tender."

The Ophanim blinked, then grimaced. "Ohhh... Uhh... That is all I have... Um... Does anyone else have anything to pay with?" The Hellhound grinned and stepped up, her eyes locked on Jenna's. "Come on, it's only a few dollars~ Can't you just... Let us have it, pup-" The Ophanim elbowed her, and Jenna groaned. "While I really could not care less about depriving a multinational company of 2 dollars, I am already on very thin ice here and I cannot risk letting someone off of paying for their item. Uh, you, what's your name," she clicked her fingers at Princess's sub. "...John..." "Alright, John, do you have cash?" John nodded and put a $5 dollar bill on the counter. "Good." She quickly counted out the change and handed it back to John. "There you go. Now that that's over, can I please get back to my job?" The Ophanim shook her head, golden earrings jingling. "No, this is of utmost importance, Guardian Jenna! Do you not remember why-"

A strange explosion sounded from deeper in the store, and everyone turned their heads towards it. The Ophanim gasped. "Oh no, she has arrived!" The Hellhound charged towards the sound as the Ophanim looked at Jenna pleadingly. "Guardian Jenna, please! For the sake of all of our planes, remember your duties!" She ran after the Hellhound, and Jenna just stared blankly. "WHAT DUTIES?!" But they were already gone. Jenna looked at the smoke emanating from deep within the store, and at the clock nearby, before running after them. Surely not even Trish could yell at her for leaving an empty lane 2 minutes before break to investigate an explosion in the store.

Jenna could immediately tell who 'She' was. A tall, four-armed, five-eyed, green-skinned woman stood on top of a glowing green crater. As Jenna watched, she sent a wave of energy from her palm into a nearby fleeing shopper. The shopper immediately stopped, straightened up, and bowed to the... Alien, their eyes a swirling green. The Alien turned her attention away from the Hellhound and Ophanim, who she had trapped inside a shimmering prism, and looked at Jenna with a malicious grin. She snapped all of her fingers, and before Jenna could react, waves of energy surrounded her, suspending her in the air. A powerful green static drowned out every thought in her head. The Alien laughed maniacally. "Finally, I have recaptured my prey! Now all that stands before me and TOTAL UNIVERSAL DOMINATION is within my grasp! With the power of technology from the mothers of reality, a shard of the celestial realm itself, the minds of 6 trillion souls, and the very source of earthly magic, my already unthinkable Psionic powers shall magnify 17 Million-fold! Entire galaxies shall bow to my whims with but a thought! Now tell me, foolish Guardian, where have you hidden it?!" The Psionic waves filled Jenna's mind, reading every thought she ever possessed. Everything she knew was laid bare to her Cosmic Ruler. Everything she knew... Which did not include what happened last night. The Alien snarled. "Your countermeasures shall not stop me, Guardian! I will reach deep within the core of your soul and pull it out myself if I have to! I will not be denied! I AM UNSTOPPABLE! I AM INEQUITABLE! I AM-" suddenly launched back by a shimmering blast of pure, irresistible, hypnotizing magic. Jenna fell to the floor, the green static blinking away. Pushing herself to her knees, she looked up and saw... Princess, her crystal outstretched before her, a shimmering rainbow aura surrounding her form.

Princess walked up to the Alien, her movements far less energetic than previously, and softly whispered to them while waving her magical crystal before all 5 of their eyes. The Alien began acting like an animal, making soft squeaking noises and nuzzling Princess, who giggled and continued hypnotizing them deeper and deeper. Jenna got up, her head still fuzzy, and looked around. Everyone seemed about as shocked as her, they were hardly moving... No, wait, they weren't moving at all now... The world around her suddenly dimmed and froze, everything looking like she was viewing it through dark sunglasses. Everything except her, Princess, and the mythical creatures. And John, apparently. Several suited people suddenly appeared and began cleaning up after the Alien. They reset displays, removed the crater, and started waving flashing lights before the eyes of all the people around. One of them, a young woman with a blonde ponytail, came up to Jenna, smiling. "You did a wonderful job, Jenna! Especially with such short notice!"

Jenna blinked. "...What? Sorry, I... I have absolutely no idea what's going on here..." The agent laughed. "Oh, right, sorry! Here, this should help!" She held up a shimmering watch and waved it before Jenna's eyes, instantly dropping her under. The flickering lights filled her mind, slipping into every nook and cranny and unlocking them like a skeleton key. A sense of clarity and understanding filled Jenna's mind as the agent brought her back up. "There, does that help?" Jenna closed her eyes, ready to remember everything... And still drew a complete blank. "...Um... Nooo..." The Agent raised an eyebrow and grimaced. "Oh. Uh... Well, you were under quite a lot of hypnotic influence throughout that... I suppose it's too much to hope there wouldn't be side effects... Uh... How about I just give you the general gist for now!" Jenna nodded. "I would like that, please. What has been going on all day?"

The woman smiled. "Alright! So, uh... First of all, I'm Agent Bliss, although I guess that wasn't what happened first actually... First, uh... What's the last thing you remember before waking up this morning, exactly?" Jenna closed her eyes, trying to focus her hazy, erased thoughts. "Uhh, returning to my dorm after a class and getting ready to go out to a club, I think..." Agent Bliss nodded. "Alright, good! So, I believe it was at the club when the Princess's previous Guardian granted you their power as a dying bequest!" Jenna did a slight double take. "...Okay, that's already already so much, but I guess my first question is 'Why Me?'" Agent Bliss shrugged. "Unsure. I believe they just liked your spirit. Or perhaps you were just in the fight place at the right time. Regardless, as the new Guardian you were tasked with keeping the Princess safe from anyone who might wish to steal The Mesmeract from her." Jenna nodded slowly. "...Alright, I think I get that… Probably…" She had no idea what ‘The Mesmeract’ was, but she could… Guess from context clues.

Agent Bliss continued. "Obviously, being placed in such an important position meant We had to contact you to ensure you knew the importance of your duties." Jenna looked at her. "We?" Agent Bliss laughed. "The Society. I can't say too much, obviously, but... Consider us 'The Illuminati' of sorts. Keeping the world running from behind the scenes, ensuring the supernatural world stays hidden, that sort of stuff. Can't go into too much more detail, obviously..." Jenna nodded. "Yeah, it's dangerous, I get it." Agent Bliss shook her head. "The geas prevents me actually. Anyway, as I said, since you were in such an important position Heaven and Hell sent some of their own to assist you. They left ways for you to contact them, I assume?" Jenna closed her eyes. "...Yeah, that'd explain it..." Agent Bliss continued. "Anyway, uh, to make a long story short, that Alien there was the main reason we needed to protect the Princess, and through her the Mesmeract, since there was no way she could handle them on her own." Jenna cocked her head. "I thought she handled them pretty well just now. Knocked them out in one blast." Agent Bliss was surprised. "Really?! Our records don't have anything suggesting the Princess is capable of anything like that! Unless she happened across another source of energy... Did she?" Jenna averted her gaze. "Oh, uh... I guess I just was mistaken then." Agent Bliss nodded skeptically. "Mhm. Anyway, we though we had dealt with her last night, but we sent Princess to stay at your home with you just in case they escaped... Which they did." Jenna raised an eyebrow. "...Why my home and not my dorm? Were you worried about my roommate?" Agent Bliss averted her gaze. "Oh… Right...There was a little mixup in our files during the commotion… We forgot you weren’t staying at your home…”

Agent Bliss looked back at Jenna. “Uh, Well, regardless, it seems everything turned out fine in the end! Now all we need is to find the Mesmeract to lock it away where this can't happen again. Where did you hide it?" Jenna blinked. "Uhhhhh... The Mesmeract... That's the crystal Princess is holding, right...? And that's why she hid it when she found it in my car?" Agent Bliss shook her head. "Uh, no, that's her personal focus. Since the cover story she was told was that she was on vacation in the mortal realm, she wasn't allowed to use any magic." Jenna looked away. "...Ah... Where's the 'Mesmeract' then?" Agent Bliss bit her lip. "Well, uh... As you're the one that hid it, only you would know, probably... And I'd hope you chose a better hiding place than your car..." Jenna blinked. "Ah. So, uh... We really need to recover my memory then... You can do that, right...?"

Agent Bliss nodded nervously. "Uh, yeah, uh... Let me call my Mistr-Boss, call my Boss..." She tapped her earpiece, and her body relaxed as she fell into a trance. In a dreamy tone, she relayed her Boss's instructions. "Because of the technique we used, you must be brought out of any trances you were in at the time of erasure to recall the information. According to our files, you were entranced by Agent Bliss, the Alien, the Ophanim, and the Hellhound during last night's events." Jenna nodded, then paused. "...I've already been woken up from all those trances today though, haven't I? Unless the Alien getting knocked out doesn't count..." Agent Bliss cocked her head, and her boss responded, "...According to our files, you were already under a light trance when we first encountered you last night." Jenna rubbed her head. "...Right... I was heading to a club... Who knows what happened there, I... Wait..." Her eyes widened. "...I think I know who hypnotized me before then..."

Dell was relaxing after classes when Jenna arrived back to the dorm. "Oh, Jenna, h-hi! I... I haven't heard from you all day!" Jenna smiled. "Yeah, uh, sorry. Wild night last night, my phone died." Dell nodded rapidly. "G-Good... I... I was worried, a bit... Called some of your friends, they said not to worry too much, but I still worried and-" Jenna sat next to them. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Don't blame yourself, you did fine." Dell smiled nervously. "Th-Thanks... Uh... H-How was it... H-How did it feel...?" Truthfully, Jenna still had no idea, but she didn't want to discourage them. "...It felt great, don't worry. Although, I did want to ask something about it..." Dell flinched. "Y-Yeah...?" Jenna smiled reassuringly. "Did, uh, the guide you used have any awakeners? You know, to bring the subject out of trance?" Dell blinked, then blushed profusely. "O-Oh no, did I forget to do that?! I-I'm sorry, I haven't done this before and I-" Jenna put a hand on their shoulder. "It's fine, it's fine, I was, uh, in a hurry anyway..." she was pretty sure that was true, "I'm just a little hazy right now. Just need you to finish waking me up."

Dell nodded nervously and scrolled through their phone. "Okay, uhh... Listen to my voice... 5, feel yourself beginning to float back up... 4, your thoughts are forming again... 3, Your eyes are starting to open... 2, you're almost up, 1, 'Out of the Deep'!" At the trigger, Jenna could finally feel all her memories washing back into her. She remembered the Princess's Guardian giving her the responsibility with their dying breath, she remembered meeting Agent Bliss and the mythical creatures, and she remembered the Mesmeract, the beautiful, powerful artifact that could control the universe, and she remembered hiding it in... Her eyes widened. "D-Did it work, Jenna?" Jenna smiled and quickly got up. "Yep, it worked perfectly! You did a great job! In fact you help me remember something really important that I forgot, thanks!" She quickly grabbed her purse and ran out of the dorm.

She carefully handed the Mesmeract over to Agent Bliss, careful not to let herself become entranced by it. Agent Bliss smiled. "Thanks again Jenna, you probably saved more than you'll ever know." Jenna nodded, still barely able to comprehend this even after regaining her memories. "Yep... you're welcome." Putting the Mesmeract safely in an enchanted bag, Agent Bliss asked her, "So, where did you end up hiding it anyway?" Jenna nervously laughed. "Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a great hiding place, would it?" Agent Bliss laughed. "Very true, very true. Alright, I'll go bring this back to base now! Thank you again!" As Agent Bliss vanished, Jenna let out a sigh of relief. She was very glad Agent Bliss had accepted that excuse; She did not want to admit that she hid a powerful artifact capable of enslaving the universe in her car's glove compartment.
