If you enjoy emotional masochism, read this. if you enjoy the idea of betraying yourself in the pursuit of pleasures you shouldn’t want, but know you desperately, desperately need- then you should read this.

this story is so good, I lovehate Castian so much.

A truly amazing story about slow-burn corruption, with amazing hypnotic language, true to form for one of the top active educators in the hypnokink scene today… <3 I adore the themes of identity and pride, trust and betrayal, the intense craving of defeat. It is just exciting beyond words. Also Castian is just way too hot, and that’s something coming from a lesbo.

The astonishingly talented sleepingirl’s magnum opus started life as an absurdly hot one-shot, and I was ecstatic when it evolved into a longer story (and ultimately a book, of which I am a proud owner). Set in a fantasy world of elves and sorcerers, the story is told from the perspective of elf warrior Maeve Loravyr, and tells of her ‘romance’ with the enigmatic Castian, whose charm is equalled only by his cruelty. Lured in by a game of cards, she soon finds herself being dragged helplessly in his wake, becoming a somewhat willing pawn in his schemes. Though there is magical mind control of varying kinds, sleepingirl takes the fascinating and erotic path of having Castian’s manipulation of Maeve play out mostly through the use of his silver tongue. His deconstruction and domination of her is for the most part purely psychological, and it’s fucking awesome. The author shows a keen understanding of the nature of addiction and the way it can cause someone to place themselves in a dangerous situation to chase thrills. The degradation is delicious too - for all Castian’s eloquence, it’s inexplicably gorgeous when he calls Maeve a ‘stupid elf girl’. The best part is how even at the end, Castian remains ambiguous, and neither Maeve nor the reader is entirely sure of the kind of person he is… but both are left wanting more of him.

Really, really hot. I just finished it this morning, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Read it right now!

I’m only half-done reading the story so far, but the “slow burn” on this one is definitely worth it. :) The most surprising thing to me (as an inexperienced D-type) is just how pleasing the frustration is for Maeve. This section was just chef’s kiss:

“How does that make you feel?”
“Aroused,” she breathed. “Agonized.”
“You want me to fuck you now, don’t you?”
With nothing in her mind, she responded: “Yes.”
