I listened intently from behind my blindfold, eagerly anticipating the snap of your fingers that would allow me to fall into oblivion.
I heard the hum of the refrigerator from the other room. The sounds from the road outside my poorly soundproofed windows. Your soft breathing across from me.
I imagined you gazing at me, a grin across your face as you watched in my face how hard I was listening, not wanting to risk missing that delicious snap of your fingers for even a second.
Without access to sight, and with my expectation of the snap, I was listening so intently and neglecting all of my other senses such that when I felt your hand snaking through my hair and gripping it hard, I just about fell off the couch. Instead, you used my hair to pull me down safely to the side, telling me to drop.
So I did.
This one got written while listening to a wind band arrangement of Despacito on repeat.
Yeah, I don't get it either.
