I was committed this time.
I’d never “won” a hypno battle before. I always seemed to be the one to drop first.
But I had the upper hand, this time!
I focused intently on the snapping of my fingers. I knew I couldn’t break my rhythm if I wanted to win. After all, rhythm and cadence is quite important in hypnosis.
And if I was the one snapping my fingers, I wouldn’t be the one to drop first.
I began to move toward my opponent, continuing to focus on keeping my movements within the rhythm I’d established. Breaking the rhythm would break the spell I was casting, and I had told myself that this time, finally, I would win.
I added in a few steps in time with my snapping fingers.
In my mind, I could almost hear the music I was snapping to, could almost hear the background track to the web I was weaving.
All of a sudden, I heard another finger snap, one that wasn’t mine, and the music stopped abruptly.
“Welcome back,” taunted my opponent. “I win!”
Yes, this one was indeed inspired by my partner's joking about if hypno battles looked like West Side Story. Why do you ask? =P
