Breathing heavily, I run up the stairs and manage to catch the train just before it departs. Just in time! I find a chair, unscrew my bottle with tea, and make myself comfortable for the next two hours. I close my eyes for a moment and center myself.
I'm about to get my book when my phone buzzes. I look at the lock screen, which just says 'Put your music on and come online, girl.'
~~~
I open my eyes. It is warm and soft. Soft music plays over my headset. I'm under fresh sheets, I see my own ceiling. My legs feel sore, as if I exercised or played a lot yesterday. My fingers are slightly sticky.
Yesterday? What happened yesterday? I'm drawing a blank. I know I boarded the train, and I must have made my way home. Is my bike even here? Did you pick me up halfway? Did we meet, what did you make me do, have you been here in my home, why did you make me forget? And also, why is this so hot?
But first, practically, what day is it even?
A quick look at my phone confirms it just the next morning. I walk out of the room and find my clothes in a pile on the floor before my desk. With the laptop still open. More mystery to surround the black area in my memory where last night should be.
There is a chat window still open, but my eyes gloss over the last messages, and I feel that tingling feeling in my stomach growing.
I decide it is fine.
I like this exciting mystery.
