Alexis felt the hand on her shoulder, but before she could do anything the scent of something heavy and pungent filled her nostrils, and the world disappeared.
When she slowly came back to awareness, the world was dark. She could feel rope around her arms and ankles. Something was on her face. It smelled like tires and carpet cleaner. She must have been in the trunk of a car. Which would be great to know if she could do anything. She tried to listen for noise beyond the sound of the road or bumps in the road, but the car must have been a nice one. The ride was too smooth, and the sound too dampened.
By the time the car finally seemed to stop, she’d lost count of how long she’d been stuck there.
Alexis heard the trunk pop, and heard a chuckle before hands were looped under her arms and legs, hauling her out.
“Another fresh one, huh?” A rough voice. Deep. An accent? A lighter voice - female? - answered.
“Not for long…”
Their laughter had an edge to it that made Alexis’ skin crawl, and she tried to twist away from their grip.
“Oooo, feisty!” The hands tightened.
“Always like it when they’ve got energy - but you might want to save it, honey.”
Her frustrated struggles didn’t get her anywhere, and by the time she was being set down in what felt like a recliner Alexis was feeling drained. Headphones went over her ears, and a droning sound began hum and pulse in her ears, amplifying the fatigue.
Alexis’ eyelids drooped beneath the blindfold, and she didn’t even notice her mouth being gently opened and something being placed inside until a hand closed her mouth on it, working her jaw so she would chew the slightly gummy capsule until it popped.
Her mouth was filled with a sweet, sticky liquid that coated the back of her throat, and as Alexis felt the world fading again she could almost hear the words “Good girl” over the droning beats…
