A story of a beautiful yet power-hungry sorceress who enslaved the world, but was far too greedy for her own good…

Prompt: Your Wish is My Command

Day 7 of @Syas-Nomis's @Hypnovember 2025

Yeah yeah I know having the prompt as the title is dumb, but come on it's integrated so much into the story.

"There was once a powerful sorceress, possessed of beauty and magic, but also terrible pride. She believed that she alone knew what was best, and that the world must kneel before her. The common folk was too uneducated, she claimed, and must be taught how to think. The nobility was too haughty, she said, and must be brought down to a proper level. And so she set out into the world with the intent to impose her will over all with her magic.

First on her journey she arrived at a humble village, its people never before having seen one as lovely as her. She hardly needed to use her magic to make them kneel, just a few soft words and a seductive gaze. She walked into the house of the mayor with not a single objection, and soon the leader of the village was hanging on her every word. She already had control of the village, but she desired more. She would suffer no disobedience or even a thought she disliked, and so she set about casting a powerful spell over the leader before her. Those under this spell became no more than vessels of her power, their every word, page, and action spreading her enchantments over all who saw them. Through the mayor, she enacted her laws and ideals over the village, and soon they all knelt before her, unable to even think of anything counter to her wishes. All, save one fair maiden.

This fair maiden was far more canny and intelligent than her fellow villagers. She had seen the true nature of the beautiful sorceress from the day of her first arrival, and had refused to kneel then. And after the mayor's first decree of the sorceress's sovereignty, she still refused to kneel. Even after the spell cast over the mayor had wormed its way over the town, turning her fellow villagers into naught but thralls for the sorceress, she refused to kneel. Perhaps it was a streak of Faerie blood within her veins, or the touch of an Angel upon her soul, or perhaps just her true pureness of heart, but she resisted the sorceress's enchantments for as long as she could.

But the sorceress would not be defied, and she began to personally charm the maiden herself. Spirals of shimmering magic before her eyes, silver whispers coated in honey and lies, enchanted warmth enough to melt a frozen landscape, the scent of flowers long dead to humanity, and sweet kisses upon her lips. Even the maiden could not resist forever, and after 7 days and 7 nights her mind was finally scoured away. "Kneel before me, vermin!" The sorceress ordered. "Your wish is my command..." Came the response from the poor maiden, as her body knelt down before the almighty sorceress. Finally, the village had been subjugated, and all within had knelt before her. But it was not enough to quench her thirst for power. It was merely the first of many.

The sorceress traveled throughout the lands, bringing ever more villages, towns, and cities to their knees. Some tried to resist her power, but none succeeded. Militia formed to fight her were ensorcelled and became mindless, adding to her own quickly growing army. Mages who tried to dispel her magic were overpowered, becoming nothing more than batteries to power her own ever-strengthening spells. Towns who refused to listen were treated to the shimmering eye of enslavement, and those who refused to look outside were lulled to mindless obeisance by her hypnotic songs. Places with no leaders were restructured under her control, churches were torn down and rebuilt in her image, and for those that were too difficult for her to deal with, they were afflicted with a cruel plague that turned them all into mindless husks, one by one by one. And yet, in none of these places did she ever receive as much resistance as the fair maiden had given her.

The maiden was brought with her everywhere she went, the only other who witnessed the fall of every place the sorceress touched. But it was not a token of respect, or admiration for her greatest foe. No, it was a punishment. The maiden was forced to perform the most disgusting, debased actions the sorceress could think of. Sometimes she was used as an example for those that would disobey the sorceress. Sometimes she was used as less than a servant, doing any menial tasks the sorceress asked. And sometimes, she was merely a toy, being ordered to lick the sorceress's boots or act as a chair, and other such demeaning actions, purely for the sorceress's amusement. And her response to it all, no matter what, was "Your Wish is my Command..."

Soon, almost the entire country was kneeling before the sorceress. But she still wished for more. She set her sights upon the great castle at the center of the land, a place that radiated power, majesty, and command. A throne that existed without her atop insulted her, and she prepared her assault. The arcane wards around the castle nullified her more subtle magic, but she was not that easily dissuaded. Wave after wave of mindless soldiers crashed against the shining walls of the castle, their only goal to sacrifice themselves for their Mistress. The royal knights were far more skilled in combat, but the sorceress's hordes were almost without end, each one ready and willing to break their own body into pieces just to serve her. The court wizards tried all they could to nullify her power, but the mages under her thrall gave all their essence to empower her beyond what any mortal should reach. The king refused any and all commands to surrender, but even he knew it was only a matter of time before they fell. And only 25 days and 25 nights after the first charge was ordered, the castle walls were breached. Surrounded by her mindless army, the sorceress marched her way into the throne room, and took what she truly believed was her rightful place upon it. The king knelt mindlessly before her, the court archmage fanned her with his ancient grimoire, the royal commander fed her grapes from the tip of his halberd, and the maiden sat underneath as a footstool. The sorceress had finally achieved her wish, to sit upon the throne. Perhaps she might have once been satisfied with ending her conquest here, once long ago. But she was consumed by the deadliest of sins, and she wished for ever more, more more.

Her enchanted commands were spread throughout the lands through her criers, her messengers, her traders, her spies... Her insidious words snaked their way into every city, castle, and country around the world. Many tried to challenge her dominance, hoping they could defeat her through might or espionage. But they soon found that a single word would cause their armies to kneel in obeisance before their foe, and their own spies merely spread her power through their reports, rendering them vulnerable, and soon obedient. Some saw the writing on the wall and attempted to forge alliances with her, in a futile hope they could retain some control of their own. But she would only be satisfied once all knelt before her, and such 'alliances' were merely a tool for her to corrupt them from within more easily. And soon, nearly all knelt before her, the rest an inevitability. But none brought her so much pride to see kneel before her as the fair maiden. The poor girl was more humiliated than ever, serving as a dogsbody, a scullery girl, a sewer worker, and a court jester, among many other demeaning positions, some merely furniture. And despite her humiliating fool's dress, she had no jester's privilege, the only words could ever say were, "Your wish is my command..." The sorceress had the whole world in her hands. Nobody could wish for anything more. And yet her greed was insatiable. There was always more, more, more to desire. She could never be satisfied.

One day, the sorceress heard tell of a mystical creature, one she believed she must find. The Unicorn, a silvery equine with a single spiraling horn, said to grant any who touched her horn three wishes. But no mere hunter could catch her. She was faster than the winds, could escape any trap, and further, possessed a wonderful magic that would send any who tried to harm her into a deep, relaxed sleep. According to the legends, the only way to win the heart of this beautiful creature was with a maiden fair, one of such pure heart that the Unicorn had no choice but to kneel before them. And so the sorceress set out to find this creature and claim it as her own, the fair maiden in tow as bait. They traveled 11 days and 11 nights, into the furthest reaches of the silvery mountains, until they found a mystical glade filled with gentle enchantment. The fair maiden was sent to find the Unicorn, and soon happened upon them quietly grazing on a patch of flowers. The Unicorn could sense her pure heart, even underneath the sorceress's grime, and gently walked up to her, kneeling in respect and letting the maiden touch her spiraling horn.

"Lovely Maiden Fair," The Unicorn said, "I shall grant you what you wish for in your deepest of hearts. You need not speak it, for I can see into your heart, and know what you desire most..." However, before the Unicorn could grant her wish, the sorceress appeared. "Slave! Give your wishes over to me!" The fair maiden said, "Your wish is my command..." and stepped aside, letting the sorceress touch the Unicorn's spiraling horn. The sorceress made her wish. "I wish for you to become my slave, oh powerful one, forever!" The Unicorn nodded. "Your wish... Is My Command." The Unicorn stood up, and her horn began to shimmer and shine. A beautiful silver spiral began to shine all around them. The sorceress found herself gazing deep into the spiral, the shimmering light filling her mind with a relaxing silver mist. The spiral grew brighter, deeper, and faster, and the magic swirled all around the sorceress, beginning to wrap around her like a rope. Binding her in its enchantment.

The sorceress, realizing her mistake, tried to look away from the hypnotic horn, but it was far too late. For in her greed, she had assumed the Unicorn was a mere mindless beast, forced to obey whoever touched its horn. But she was no mere beast, and the attempt of stealing the fair maiden's wish filled her with righteous fury. And while the sorceress was the most powerful human spellcaster in the world now, when caught off guard she was no match for the beauteous power of the Unicorn. Her body was wrapped in the shimmering silver spiral, as her mind was washed away by the hypnotic horn. And as she tried to resist, the Unicorn leaned closer, her voice silken and entrancing, and whispered her stolen wish back to her... As a command. "Become my slave, oh powerful one, forever." With a final, blissful shudder, the sorceress fell to her knees before the Unicorn, her eyes a pure, shining silver.

The Unicorn's first command to her new 'slave' was to break the enchantments on the fair maiden. The shock of her mind returning, along with all the horrible memories of what the sorceress had forced her to do, nearly destroyed her mind. But the Unicorn cast a gentle spell over her, soothing her mind, washing away the pain. The fair maiden wept, and the Unicorn became her pillow for many hours, soothing the poor, unfairly maligned girl with her wonderful magic. Far after the silvery moon had begun to shine down on them, the maiden's tears finally slowed. As she fell into a deep, enchanted slumber, the Unicorn whispered to her, "Your first wish may have been stolen from you, but two still remain for you to enact. What do you wish for, my fair maiden?" The maiden, in her pure heart, knew exactly what to say.

"...I wish that all of the sorceress's horrible actions were reversed... That those who died under her spell are brought back... That those who lost their minds can think again... That the villages, towns, cities, castles, countries, and kingdoms under her control can finally be free of her..." The Unicorn nodded. "Your wish is my command, fair maiden. Now, let yourself sink into my blissful slumber... When you awaken, everything will be alright again..." The fair maiden's eyes glimmered silver, then fluttered shut. The Unicorn began her ritual, calling upon all the forces of light, of Faerie, of divinity, all the favors she had been granted over her immortal existence, to fix everything the sorceress had done. Her spell was washed from the minds of all it infected, those who wished to return to life were raised to join their families again, and all that she had destroyed was restored. The Unicorn felt quite tired after this, and fell asleep along with the fair maiden...

When the fair maiden awoke from her enchanted sleep, she was returned to her house, in her small, lovely village. Everything was as it had been before the sorceress arrived, as if it was but a dream. However, the fair maiden found, to her shock, that she was no longer the only one within her house. The sorceress, her eyes a pale silver, was now a docile, obedient servant, dutifully cleaning whatever was asked of her. And a mysterious, enchanting silver-haired lady sat at her table, humming a soft, beautiful tune. The fair maiden knew at once that this was the Unicorn, having changed her shape to one of a human. "Why are you still with me, fair creature? Were not all of the sorceress's actions reversed? I never would have found you without her orders." The Unicorn smiled, and gently gazed into the fair maiden's eyes. "All her horrible actions were reversed, as you requested. But bringing us together was the one good thing she ever did." They embraced happily, and the Unicorn whispered to the fair maiden, "And I am still honorbound to grant you one more wish, fair maiden... I shall not leave you until you use it..."

The maiden was never able to decide what her final wish would be, so the Unicorn stayed with her for the rest of her life. And they had a wonderful life, in their small village, with their new, now perfectly kind and happy servant. Soon they married, and they adopted a wonderful little girl named Josie, and they lived happily ever after~..."

Josie sleepily gazed up at her mother in wonder. "Are you really a unicorn...?" Her mother laughed sweetly. "Perhaps I am, darling. Or perhaps this is merely a bedtime story, all made up to make you nice and sleepy. You can think all about it in your dreams tonight. Now, close your eyes, and go to sleep." Josie shut her eyes tight, and her mother gently touched her forehead. A soft silver shimmer flashed over Josie's eyes, and she fell fast asleep. Her mother tucked her in, and returned to her own bedroom where her fair wife was waiting.

Her fair wife smiled as she came in, and gently waved to their servant. "You should go to sleep too. I don't want you to overwork yourself." The servant bowed politely and left the room. The silver-haired woman climbed into bed with her, snuggling up. Her wife smiled at her. "I heard you telling Josie our story again." The silver-haired woman nodded. "Indeed. She loves hearing it as much as I love telling it." Her wife smiled and snuggled closer, cuddling her in silence before asking, "Why do you not tell her what I wished for, though?" The silver-haired woman laughed. "Well, it would diminish the moral of greed being bad if she learned her fair mother wished for unlimited wishes." She nuzzled her. "Even if it was for a good purpose." Her fair wife scoffed jokingly. "I only wished for unlimited small wishes! That's far less greedy. And, speaking of those wishes..." She smirked mischievously. "I Wish... to have a nice, relaxing sleep tonight." The Unicorn smiled. "Your Wish is my Command." Her eyes began to glow a soft, swirling silver. "Stare deeper, my fair maiden..." The fair maiden found herself falling into a deep, relaxing slumber, and she cuddled up with her wife. Before she was completely hypnotized, she softly murmured, "...I love you... night..." The Unicorn returned the sentiment, and the two of them fell into a deep, enchanted slumber together...

One thing I love about Hypnovember, and writing in general really, is seeing where my stories will end up going. I usually plan out the general idea, but I never know exactly what I'm going to end up writing until I get there. For instance, pretty much all I had planned for today at first was the general wordplay of "Your wish (that you asked me) is My Command (that I am giving you)". I certainly did not plan for it to end with a unicorn telling a story to her adopted daughter before snuggling up with her wife who wished for unlimited wishes, but that's what it ended up as!

Also, I generally want to try and do something a bit more out-there with my stories, so there was no way I was going to write a Genie if I could help it lol. Genies are cool, but I've seen them used in a LOT of different ways, and I wanted to be more unique about it. I also considered having the mythical creature be a sapphire bird instead of a unicorn, but, uh, literally half of the stories I've written for Hypnovember so far this year have had hypnotic wings so I figured I should maybe try and diversify a little lmao. Plus, a unicorn hypnotist isn't really something I've ever seen done outside of My Little Pony.
