This section didn't really fit as part of either chapters 1 or 2, but I really liked it so I'm having it as a separate thing. There's no hypnosis here, just showing how the characters work together and interect in a less stressful situation.

The storm proved to be a lot more of a boon than Clara had feared. For them, at least. The town almost flooded, and they were forced to take shelter in the tavern. Maia was perfectly happy to rest, and Drossie definitely needed it, but Clara was restless the entire night. She passed the time by searching the tavern for any clues about Pyotr's captor. It was mostly fruitless, since most of the patrons seemed not to have noticed anything, but just as she was beginning to give up she perceived something out of the corner of her eye. It was just a scratch on the floor, but she'd been around Pyotr enough to recognize the patterns from his spiked boots. Excitedly tracing out the path, she found they led to a locked room on the top floor. The tavernkeep seemed oddly intent on not giving up the key for how hazy they seemed about the room, only cementing Clara's suspicions. The lock was quite complex, but Drossie was as adept at causing distractions as always, so it wasn't much of a problem.

The room was unusually large and decorated for an inn, but from the minimal impression Clara had gotten of the enchantress it was quite fitting. Spiraling crimson motifs adorned the wallpaper, and lovely paintings depicting soothing and alluring (though not quite lewd) scenes hung around the room. Clara wondered how many times the enchantress must have done something like this if she had a personal room reserved through her enchantments. And if she used it that much, there might be something important left behind… In fact, the orange cloudscape above the bed seemed oh so slightly askew... Careful not to muss the nearly-made bedsheets, she nudged it aside with her dagger, revealing a hidden safe. And within minutes, it was cracked open, revealing... Emptiness. Of course. No, wait... A small speck of parchment caught her eye. She gingerly pinched it, closely observing every detail. It was small, but had just enough leftover ink to try and discern its origin.  It didn't look like writing, so probably not a letter or something of that sort. And it felt far too mundane in her fingers to be part of a scroll. So... It could definitely be a map then. She quickly glanced around the room, and her eyes landed on a polished, but clearly used, table. She smiled. Perfect, this might be exactly what they need! She just needed to grab Drossie.

Sneaking downstairs, Clara heard the sorcerer yammering rapidly to a crowd of annoyed people. "...and you know, fish really just do the weirdest things nowadays, so-" She noticed Clara silently gesturing and nodded. "-You know, my friend Maia knows a lot more about these things! They're a cleric you know, they're great at dealing with strange problems like this! Tell them, Maia!" The cleric looked up from their book, their eyes blazing with celestial fury at the half-elf quickly sneaking through the crowd over to their friend. "Hopefully they can keep them occupied for a few more. What ya need me for?"

Clara silently led Drossie to the room. The sorcerer looked around, whistling softly. “How often does she do this that she has her own room…?” Drossie murmured. Clara silently shushed her and gestured to the table. Drossie nodded. "Got it! Let's see..." She quickly lay a large sheet of elven parchment over the table and whispered a soft arcane chant, causing the lines on the sheet to shimmer and warp. Soon, the sheet displayed a pale and patchy, yet still legible, map. The two smiled, and Clara carefully bagged their new map. Drossie giggled. "That spell is so much more useful than I first thought, glad I learned it!" Taking a few minutes to put everything back exactly how it was, the two quietly snuck back down to the main room.

They could hear Maia before they even reached the stairs. "...DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PETTY TROUBLES, FISH RELATED OR OTHERWISE." The celestial's radiant wings were spread wide in an awefully intimidating way. As an angry patron yelled at them, their blazing eyes landed on their party members. "YOU TWO. STORM IS PASSING. WE'RE LEAVING." Drossie stifled her laughter as they escorted the two of them outside. The rain was still falling down, but they'd faced far worse conditions so it was more an excuse to speak with less risk of being overheard. "Why did I need to distract them? Drossie was doing PERFECTLY fine herself." Clara pulled under a balcony and carefully pulled out the map. "I realized the enchantress had been using a map, so I needed Drossie to use Ink Recall. So now we at least have an idea of where they're going." Maia nodded, slightly less annoyed now. "Let me see it." Clara very carefully unrolled it under the dry balcony, and Maia started studying it.

Clara and Drossie knew better than to interrupt Maia when they were really focused, and even the rain seemed to quiet in response. The cleric thoughtfully flipped through their book, comparing the arcane lines with charts, records, and maps of their own. After almost an hour, they finally looked up. "Looks like Threefallow. Ruined temple 3 dozen miles northeast." Drossie bit her lip. "That's pretty close... She'll get there before we catch her..." But Maia shook their head wryly. "The path she marked out was pretty outdated. We should be able to catch up, if not head them off." Clara breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright! Let's get going now! We can't wait around another second!" Drossie gently put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you sure? You didn't get any sleep last night, and-" Clara shook her head, beginning to speak rapidly. "No don't worry I'm fine, I can sleep later, we need to head out now, come on!" She ran off into the rain, and Drossie and Maia exchanged concerned glances before following her.
