When several of the female students in my classes started to wear matching pearl necklaces, I figured it was a sorority thing. They were always putting on some display of “school spirit” or “Greek identity” or something. Frankly, I didn’t give it too much thought. I was just enjoying that things had gotten quiet enough in Skarlette City that I could give a few lectures as Alexis Ames, PhD, rather than battling criminal masterminds as the superheroine Argent.

As part of the Libido League, my fellow heroes and I had stopped a number of evil schemes against the city. Most importantly, we’d put a stop to Terence Tartarus’s latest ploy for warping the minds of everyone in the city. I felt secure enough to put my cape on a shelf for a while and dust off my lecture notes.

A few days later, I noticed that all the girls in my classes were wearing the same pearl necklaces, even those who would never joined a sorority. Maybe it was some sort of retro fad among college students these days? The pearls were very lovely indeed. Sometimes the glinting of the light off their milky curves distracted me in the middle of a lecture.

It was when the girls all started to dress the same that I knew something was up. No college student shows up for an 8 AM lecture on early modern literature with perfectly coiffed hair, flawless makeup, tasteful jewelry, and a fashionable day dress. Certainly not two dozen students! They were beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but this wasn’t normal. After stammering my way through a lecture, I pulled one girl aside. “You always struck me as a hoodie and jeans type of student, Mandy. Why the change of look?”

“No reason, Dr. Ames,” the chipper coed replied. “It just feels better to present my most inviting appearance to the world.”

“Well, it’s certainly a change! Those pearls must have been expensive.”

Mandy’s hand went to her neck and she let out a pleasurable little sigh. “Aren’t they heavenly? The best part is that they’re free. My roommate Janine had an extra string and gave them to me.”

“A very generous roommate you have there.”

Mandy nodded, a vacant smile on her lips. Then, she reached behind her neck and unfastened the necklace. Holding it out to me, she said. “Janine always says that it’s better to give than to receive. You should take them. They go well with your complexion.”

I held up my hands. “Mandy, I cannot accept such an extravagant gift from a student. There are university rules about–”

“Don’t worry, Dr. Ames. It cost me nothing, so it’s not breaking any rules. Just wear them for one day and you’ll feel better about yourself. If you don’t like them, you can give them back next class. Janine will get me another necklace anyway.”

Mandy pushed the pearl necklace into my hand. As beautiful as they looked, the pearls felt just as good against my skin. Better, even. They were warm and smooth, like a living thing. My breath caught in my throat. I could only nod, open-mouthed. Mandy skipped out of the classroom.

I caressed the creamy white pearls, savoring their perfect imperfections with my fingers. My mind ran through my entire wardrobe, picturing how these pearls would look with every outfit I owned. Only a few things made the cut, I’d need to go shopping.

What was I thinking? This wasn’t me! I had to get these pearls back to Libido League Tower so I could examine them.

It wouldn’t help my secret identity for me to change into Argent in an open classroom and fly to the Tower. I stumbled back to my office, gripping the pearls tightly in my fists. Once inside, I rummaged through my desk for my car keys. Or tried to. My hands didn’t want to put down the pearls. Three times I tried to set them down, only to find them once more gripped in my fists. I couldn’t pick anything up with my fingers occupied like this. I couldn’t catch my breath. My skin was flushed. I had to get out of here! Desperate for an escape, I tried to put them somewhere else that would free my hands.

Without thinking, I fastened the pearls around my neck.

The moment I fastened the catch, my body filled with a intense buzzing sensation, like sitting on a motorcycle a full rev. But I was standing still. The buzzing was so intense, that it filled every inch of me. My mind was trapped on the far side, a faint whisper against the all-encompassing, senses-shattering buzz of the pearls.

Minor fluctuations of the buzz moved my hands. They pulled my phone from my purse and dialed a number I didn’t know.

On the third ring, a woman’s voice answered. “Absinthe Jewelers. How may you be of service?”

The buzz spoke with my lips. “First time Pearl Girl. I am alone.”

“Excellent, dearie. Stand by for your first lesson.” There was a musical tone that harmonized with the buzzing, merged with it. Together, they expanded from the phone to fill the office, the building, the campus, the world, the entire universe—pulsing and ringing with pleasure so fast and hot and pure that I climaxed without thinking, cumming like a supernova.

After that, I didn’t think for a long, long time.
