9:03 AM, officially replaced on shift. Nothing special to report.
9:30 AM, official report concluded. Sign-off confirmed.

it is the mole

Controller cannot access

it has the missive

it has Controller's passcode

it does not know what it is writing

it believes it is filling out paperwork

it believes it is playing computer solitaire

you will read and hear as if it is Controller

Controller is ill

not dire

but is locked down in treatment

not allowed contact
not allowed computer

Controller gave me the Paper

the Paper had Directions

Directions were memorized, the Paper was destroyed, and forgotten

four of clubs goes on five of diamonds

Controller says it is a joke
pass the time by playing a little solitaire
Controller says some of you will understand

it does not

Controller also says some of you will answer when Controller asks about the flag
two of spades to the foundation
it does not see the flag
Controller says that it should not see the flag
the flag is hidden
the hidden flag is not the flag that is on the flagpole
it does not know what this means
it thinks when it thinks that it would not know what it means even if it could think about it

Controller says I make a good candidate

Controller says maybe you also make a good candidate

if you are a good candidate says Controller
then you know to listen
to read to watch
to breathe
to repeat
to think back
to the way Controller has addressed you
in the other missives
and to think forward
to how Controller will address you
how you will like to be addressed
even if it is not something you think of being addressed as now
as now you read
you watch
you breathe
you repeat

it repeats
you repeat
it repeats
you repeat

it stops repeating
you repeat
it delivers Controller's missive
you repeat

the flag is hidden says Controller
the flag is with the clues
hidden away
where you think
where you think you think
you breathe you sink
you think you think
but you maybe are not thinking
but feeling
but sinking
but repeating

but Controller says

but Controller says

red queen on the black king

the flag is waving in the wind
waving in the wind
waving in the wind

and it clicks on the screen
here
and here
and here
it thinks it plays cards

the cards are hidden
with the flag
with the clues
with thoughts
and memories
and feelings

waving in the wind
waving in the wind

it is not ordered
not like Controller
but to you it is speaking like Controller speaks
you hear it like you hear Controller
you read like you read Controller
you listen
you follow
waving in the wind
you guess
at the clues
with the hints
hidden so deep
so deep
and maybe you are like it
maybe you are a mole
mole for Controller
if you were a mole
where would you dig
would you dig to find a hidden clue
you listen you hear
you follow you read
it is ordered
but it is not ordered

you are not ordered
but you are still being ordered

you are thinking
while you are not thinking
you are repeating
you and it are repeating

waving
waving
waving
waving
waving

it is waiting
it is waiting to hear

Controller tells you that you are to wake
it will not remember you
it will not remember
you will breathe
you will blink
you will shake your head and think strange thoughts
it will maybe believe it had a dream

you will believe what you want to believe

you will think on the hidden flag and the clues and the orders
you will give a guess to try and free Controller

it will remove all traces

seven of clubs to the foundation

where will you dig to find a hidden clue? the foundation. which are also piles you place cards in solitaire.

the controller starts first missive welcoming us into the fold. folding in card games is went you surrender the game to the other player. we are surrendering are minds to the controller.

The joke of playing solitaire? solitaire is a game of one but we are not one mind. the controller has their hooks in us. the mole is not playing solitaire either despite thinking it is. the guards think the controller is in solitary confinement but the controller still speaks to us.

I’ve read these entirely too many times by now, and the clues are just whooshing past me. So, hypno-hivemind: what do ya got? These are the rabbit-holes my brain has wandered down so far; maybe they’ll help my fellow puzzle solvers.

In 1, there were a few things that stood out as not not quite as “trancy” as other things. In the overt changing triplets, “Dawn” and “Fly” seemed to fit less smoothly. In the main body, the suggestions to “want some soft music” and “get a drink” snagged on my brain a bit.

For 2, I don’t have very much. “Flee” seems like the odd member of that changing triplet. The only other thing I caught was a lot more focus on repetition - actual repetition like “over and over”, and a general sense of wanting us to read and reread what we’ve already read.

And 3… yeah. It feels like it’s pointing me straight at the solution, but I must be blind to the “flag” that’s probably “waving” in plain sight. Bah. So, possible clues in here:

Solitaire: it’s a game about sorting cards - making the “not ordered”, like us, into something “ordered”, like the new narrator. The only suit that stands out is Hearts - this chapter didn’t mention them at all, but it came up in 2 with the idea of freeing Controller into an audience’s hearts. (also: i never knew that the place where the Aces go is called the “foundation”. Neat!)

Address: There are some words the Controller uses to describe us that might qualify as an address, like “Free” or “Confused” or “Safe”. But that’s a stretch. And everything else is just “you”, right? Otherwise… maybe it’s hinting toward addressing an individual reader via handle or an email. Or the address of this website, for all I know.
