The room was dark, intentionally; no public space is that dark by accident.

Treya looked around the room. She was seated at a table in a restaurant—no, nightclub. Definitely a nightclub. There was a dance floor, and a lot of people on it. No music, though, at least no music that she could hear. Treya's eyes were taking a while to adjust. She didn't understand why she felt like she had a headache coming on, but gentle rubbing between her eyebrows calmed those nerves fairly quickly.

Everyone on the dance floor seemed to be wearing identical headsets, each with coloured lights on the inside. She saw greens, blues, oranges, pinks... She'd heard about silent discos before, but had never been to one. She wasn't sure why she was at one, dancing wasn't exactly something she did for excitement. She had no opposition to it, and she moved reasonably well, but she certainly didn't come to places like this on her own, and rarely with friends. She wondered if she would spot her roommate Simone out on the dance floor, but she couldn't really identify any faces in the darkness.

"Hey there!" a light tenor voice said from beside her. "You with us now?"

She turned. A young, pale face looked back at her, framed by blond hair that dropped in a wave just past the jawline. This person was dressed in a blue t-shirt and denim shorts that struck Treya as a bit of a work uniform; perhaps they're a waiter.

"I... I think I am? Wait, have I been..." Treya blinks.

"You've been sitting there for a good ten minutes. Not even sure when or how you came in. Don't worry, we're used to that sort of thing." There was a cheerful grin. "I'm Wynn, I'm your server. Would you like something to eat, to drink, or perhaps a headset and a program?"

"A headset and a program?" Treya asked, confused.

Wynn seemingly misunderstood her question as an order. "I'll be back in just a moment with a menu."

"Wait," she tried to say, but she was too slow, the server was gone.

Treya closed her eyes, trying to think. The sound of dozens of feet shuffling together filled the otherwise-quiet space. She had been taking a lot of walks lately. Sitting down in the comfortable booth was nice. She wasn't sleepy, not exactly, but having her eyes closed felt good.

A minute before she closed her eyes, Wynn had come back. Why she didn't remember that, she didn't know. Nor did she know where her time was going.

She took a slow drink of the water she had no idea she'd received. It had come with the headset and the menu, she remembered. And she'd read the menu, but she didn't remembering selecting anything. But Wynn had thanked her, and...

She took her dance partner's hand as the music came to an end. He smiled at her and kept moving, he must have had a different song than she did in his headphones. He offered her a little bow, and she curtsied in reply with a grin. She wasn't sure where her skirt had gone, but—no, she thought about it as she walked back to her booth, she had been talking with a group of women, getting to know them, and out of nowhere they had all taken off their bottoms, whether pants or skirts, and—that group of women had found her because of the colour of the light on her headset, she remembered now, and—

That had been over an hour ago.

Two hours ago, she realizes as she approaches the security desk, naked but for the plain white socks she was wearing.

There was a strange familiarity to the feeling of losing time, she thought as the blue-and-denim-clad clerk at the desk gave her her clothes back. She didn't know why it was familiar, to feel like so much of her time these days was missing, but—

She was on the floor, dancing. The four other people in the small group she was moving with were as nude as she was. Not everyone on the floor was unclothed, but a few, here and there, in little pockets, all of them with a green glow coming from their headsets.

She had found a group of like-minded nudists, or—

No, temporary nudists. That's what the green light—

She had handed her clothes back to the person behind the security desk and—

She had paid for another two hours of—

She had needed her jacket. Her credit card was in the pocket.

A moment ago, just a moment ago, she had opened her eyes and looked around the room, and now she was leaving.

She was certain she'd had a good time. But other than that, she had no idea where the evening went.
