Nepenthes Dormira (n.)
Colloquially referred to as the “wifesitter.” A creeping pitcher vine indigenous to South America. An arboreal species that has no root system or photosynthetic foliage to speak of, the Nepenthes Dormira lures warm-blooded animals to its blossoms through a variety of pheromones that induce attraction in a variety of female mammals.
Lena opened the door with a sigh. She always felt guilty when she got home this late. The living room was dark, the only light coming from the TV at the far end of the room. Maddie was already asleep, curled up on the couch with that ratty old blanket. Lena kept telling Maddie to get a new one, but she never listened. She said it had sentimental value, but the thing was barely holding itself together at this point.
Lena kissed her wife gently on the forehead, making sure not to wake her. Maddie always looked so peaceful like this. She didn’t want to admit it, but Lena was a little jealous. She wished she could be as content as Maddie looked.
She felt her stomach growl and remembered she didn’t eat lunch today. Well… shit, she thought to herself. Don’t wanna throw something together now, not when it’s this late. I’ll just make a big breakfast tomorrow.
Lena walked to her bedroom and stripped out of her suit, making sure to hang it nice and neat so it didn’t get any wrinkles. She threw on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. When she turned on the light, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. The bathroom light wasn’t very flattering even on the best days, but tonight she looked like hell. Her eyes had dark circles under them, and she looked quite a bit paler than she remembered herself looking. She made herself smile, but it just looked fake.
You’re overthinking things, she thought. You’ve got a wonderful wife, a job that pays really well, a beautiful house. You’re rocking this. This is what you’ve spent your whole life working for.
Out of the corner of her eye, Lena spotted something green. She turned and saw a plant she didn’t remember being there before. It sat in a white ceramic pot, and it had some red and pink bulbs poking out of the soil. Even though she hadn’t seen it before, it felt strangely familiar. Then, as if it could tell she was looking at it, the bulbs opened, and a cloud of yellow pollen was released.
Lena froze. She knew where she saw that plant before.
“Oh, fuck!” she shouted as she stumbled backwards out the bathroom door and into the hallway. She pressed herself against the wall, and heard something heavy land on the living room floor with a thud. Followed by a groan.
“Lena?” said Maddie. “Is that you?”
Lena tried to speak, but she felt her breath catch in her throat. Maddie walked up and peered into the bathroom. “Oh… uh… I guess you found your present. Sorry, I thought you’d be home earlier. I wanted to surprise you.”
Lena took a deep breath and peeled herself off the wall. “You know I don’t like surprises. Especially when the surprise is that my wife bought herself a wifesitter.”
Maddie chuckled. “Me? No, silly, I bought it for you!”
“What makes you think I’d want something like that?”
“Well, you’ve been really stressed out lately. Even on the weekends, it’s just ‘work, work, work.’ You’re so tired and cranky, always working late and going in early, and it sucks.”
Lena glared at Maddie. “So you thought I’d be happier as some blitzed-out housewife?”
Maddie blinked. “Uh… no? I just thought you’d like something to help you take the edge off.”
“I don’t need anything like that. I’m fine!”
Maddie didn’t say anything for a moment. Then she smiled and grabbed Lena’s hand. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I’ll bring it back tomorrow.”
Lena eyed Maddie suspiciously. Something about this didn’t feel right. “You promise?”
“Of course,” Maddie smiled.
Lena leaned in and hugged her wife. “Thanks.”
Maddie returned the gesture and patted her on the back. Then, suddenly, she twirled the two of them around, and pushed Lena into the bathroom.
Lena stumbled back and fell on her butt. “Gah! What the hell are you doing?”
“Sorry, Lena,” Maddie said, “but consider this an intervention!”
She slammed the door shut, and when Lena tried to open it, it refused to budge. “Maddie, c’mon, that’s not funny! Open the door!”
“No way! This is for your own good!”
Lena opened her mouth to argue, but she smelled something sweet. A yellow cloud wafted in front of her vision. She felt her muscles relax as she staggered away from the door, before falling on her butt again. “Maddie… wait…” Her voice sounded strangely distant. She felt a brief rush of fear, but she couldn’t quite remember what she was supposed to be afraid of. Another puff of yellow entered her nostrils, and then the fear was gone too. Her eyelids drooped as her eyes lost focus, and she felt a happy, sleepy smile start to form on her face. She vaguely heard someone calling her name from the other side of the door, but it didn’t really concern her. Nothing did at this point. She just sat there in a pleasant haze.
She didn’t know if it was moments, minutes, or even hours later, but she felt something enter her mouth. It didn’t taste like the pollen, but it was savory and delicious and she happily suckled on it to get more and more of that wonderful taste. She felt like she was floating on a cloud; everything felt fuzzy and distant, but in a warm, pleasant sort of way. She inhaled another burst of pollen, but this one smelled ever so slightly different to the others. There was a hint of something else this time, but Lena’s foggy mind couldn’t place it. She had other things to worry about, like suckling the thing that was in her mouth, or the sudden rush of warmth between her legs.
She felt something rubbing up against her crotch. Something inside her told her what she had to do, but it took so much effort to wake her limbs up. She managed to pull her sweatpants and panties down just enough for the wifesitter’s other vine to enter her drooling pussy. It felt better than anything else she had ever used to get off, like an electric spark of pleasure that jolted through her entire body. She mewled as it slowly, rhythmically thrusted in and out, each time making her shudder with ecstasy.
She stayed like that for what felt like an eternity. Then, her pussy clenched around the vine and she came, the spark turning into a lightning bolt of pure bliss. She screamed, the vine in her mouth barely muffling her cries. The moment seemed to last forever. After a while, she felt the vines sliding out of her, and then a pair of strong arms picking her up off the floor. She leaned against someone, but she didn’t know who. She didn’t really care. Even though the wifesitter had stopped, she still basked in its glow.
Maddie sat Lena down on the couch. Lena stared off into space, drool dripping down her chin and onto her shirt. The thing was completely soaked, with both her drool and in the golden nectar of the wifesitter. Her sweatpants were also drenched, but Maddie didn’t want to think about that right now. She waved her hand in front of Lena’s eyes, and the other woman didn’t react at all. “Hello? Lena, you in there?”
“Yeah…” Lena sighed. She sounded almost like a different person. The anger was gone from her voice, replaced with a peaceful, contented feeling.
They stayed like this for a few minutes. As they sat there, the fog in Lena’s mind slowly started to dissipate. Finally she blinked, and saw Maddie, grinning like a maniac. “Hey there, cutie. How’d you like your present?”
Lena gulped and buried her head in her hands. “Fuck… look, Maddie, you gotta get rid of that thing.”
“Aw, c’mon! Don’t act like you didn’t like it!”
“It’s not that! It’s just…” Lena sunk into the couch. “Look. My mom had one of those things, right? Dad got it for her as an anniversary gift. And whenever they started arguing, he’d just bring her to the wifesitter. When she was done, she’d forgotten whatever they were arguing about, and just went on her way like nothing happened. After a while she stopped arguing with him, but she spent more and more time with that plant. She just became this doormat, letting him have his way on everything.”
She sighed. “And now, I see my sister has one. And I’m worried the same thing is happening to her. She keeps posting pictures with the thing, calls it her ‘bestie’ and shit like that, and I’m just… I don’t wanna be like that, alright? I don’t wanna end up some passive, meek thing. I’ve worked too hard for that.”
“But that’s why I got it for you!” Maddie pleaded. “You work so hard all the time, and it’s killing you. You think I don’t notice when you don’t bring a lunch to work with you? You’re working through your breaks, aren’t you?”
Lena scoffed, and scratched the back of her head. “O-Of course not!”
“Lena. You’re doing that thing again. We both know you’re lying.”
“…Fine, you caught me. But so what? I could probably stand to lose weight anyway, skipping a meal isn’t a big deal.”
“And what about your sleep? What are you getting these days, four hours? Maybe five, on a good day?”
“Oh, are you watching me sleep now?”
“We sleep in the same bed, genius. And to be honest? You look like shit.”
Lena rolled her eyes. “Tell me how you really feel.”
“I am,” Maddie replied sternly. “And I’m telling you, Lena, that you need something to help you relax. And since you’re too stubborn to do anything yourself, I gave you something that would make you relax.”
“And I don’t want it in our house. So get rid of it, or I will.”
Maddie sighed. “Fine. First thing tomorrow, I’m taking it back. But right now, it’s late, and we’re both exhausted. I’m taking the bed. But you, miss grouchy, are sleeping here tonight.”
Lena groaned as her alarm went off. The morning sun was just barely starting to shine through the sliding glass door at the back of the living room. She reached blindly for her phone and tapped the button to turn it off. She hoped it was quiet enough that it didn’t wake Maddie.
She sat up on the couch and stretched, trying to get that lethargic feeling out of her limbs. She thought back to what happened last night and rubbed her eyes. Fucking Maddie. Why’d she have to go and do something like that?
She looked down at her shirt, still sticky from all the drool and wifesitter nectar. I can see why Mom liked it, I guess. But… Lena shook her head. Focus. Shower, then get changed, then a granola bar on my way out the door.
She walked down the hallway and almost opened the door to the bathroom before she remembered what was in there. Well… I need to shower, so…
Lena stripped out of her dirty clothes, laying them in a neat pile next to the door. Then she took a deep breath, flung the door open, and sprinted as fast as she could into the shower. She closed the curtain just as she saw the bulbs start to open. She held her breath for several moments, praying that the cloud of pollen didn’t find its way into the shower.
Finally, she couldn’t hold her breath any longer, and she gasped for air. She couldn’t see any pollen, and when she breathed in, that sweet smell was nowhere to be found. She laughed nervously. “Take that, you overgrown dildo!”
Confident that she was safe to wash up, Lena turned on the hot water and let it wash away the gross, uncomfortable feeling she had ever since last night. She closed her eyes and let her mind wander a bit, floating between planning for her day at work and her memories of last night. It really was nice… but I shouldn’t indulge in that sort of thing. Not like I need it anyway.
She grabbed the bottle of shampoo and squeezed a bit of it in her hand, then lathered it into her hair. She worked slowly, almost savoring the sensation. She kept her eyes closed and took slow, deep breaths, inhaling the shampoo’s aroma as it soaked into her hair. She didn’t remember it smelling quite this good in a while. Maybe Maddie got another brand when she got the…
Lena’s arms went limp. Her mind hung on that last thought. Got the… the…
She took another deep breath, and forgot what she was thinking about.
Lena’s head swam as she slowly came to awareness. She laid on the floor, the shower curtain wrapped loosely around her naked body. The shower was still running, ice-cold water splashing on her legs. For a brief moment, she wondered how she ended up in this position. Then she heard a shlick sound and felt something leave her pussy. She looked down to see a wifesitter vine retract into the pot in the corner.
God dammit.
She slowly got up off the floor, letting the shower curtain fall off her. She turned off the shower, and looked over at the wifesitter. She expected it to start spraying more pollen, but it just sat there in its pot. Maybe it has to reset or something? She groaned and grabbed a towel off the rack on her way out the door.
A few minutes later, Lena had dried off and put on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. She walked past the bathroom and looked inside, observing the mess she’d made earlier that morning. I can’t let Maddie know about this, she’ll never let me see the end of it. She looked at the wifesitter, still sitting in the corner of the room. But what do I do about that thing?
Maddie woke up to the sound of music coming from the bathroom. Curious, she got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom. She knocked on the door and asked, “Lena? You in there?”
Lena opened the door and Maddie snorted. Lena was wearing an old pair of swimming goggles and a bandanna tied around her face, and what looked like earplugs crammed into her nostrils. “Yes?” she asked, as if she didn’t look absolutely ridiculous.
“Uh… what’re you doing?”
“Cleaning.”
“Um… why?”
“Wifesitter got me again this morning.” Lena spoke in a calm, soft voice. “Made a mess. I’m cleaning it up.”
Maddie stepped back in alarm. “Wait, what?”
Lena blinked. “Uh… shit. You weren’t supposed to know that!”
“Then why did you tell me?”
“I wasn’t thinking! Maybe the bandana is loose or-”
“Look, Lena, just sit down in the living room, alright? You’re like two hours late to work at this point, I’m gonna call and say you’re sick.”
“What? There’s no way I’m that late!” Lena pulled out her phone and, to her horror, she saw that Maddie was right. Did I really spend all that time cleaning?
“So, mind telling me what happened?” Maddie stared at Lena like a detective interrogating a murder suspect.
Lena sunk into the recliner, trying not to look guilty. She didn’t think it was working. “I tried to take a shower, and before I knew it, I was splayed out on the floor. The wifesitter was doing… what it did last night. Once it was done, I got dressed, and I wanted to clean up before you woke up and saw what happened. And… I guess I lost track of time?”
“Hm…” Maddie leaned forward. “And all that stuff you were wearing was there to keep the pollen out, right?”
“Yeah. But I guess it didn’t work, because, like, I spent hours on it, right? I didn’t even realize what I was doing.”
“Did you see any pollen? Did it do anything at all while you were working?”
“Well… I don’t know. I didn’t see anything, but I wasn’t exactly staring at it the whole time, y’know?”
“Well, it’s not supposed to be blasting pollen 24/7. When it inserts itself into you, it’s feeding on your saliva and… other fluids.”
“Wait, that’s what it’s doing? That’s disgusting.”
Maddie shrugged. “Biology’s gross, Lena.”
“So, what are you saying? It left me alone because it wasn’t hungry?”
“Probably, yeah. Look, you’re saying you lost track of time while you were cleaning. How did you feel? Was it similar at all to how the pollen felt?”
Lena thought for a moment. “Not… exactly. With the pollen, it’s like there’s this fog in my mind. I can’t focus on anything, it all just slips away. But when I was cleaning, I was completely focused on that task. I wasn’t thinking about anything else, just… cleaning.”
Maddie smiled. “Oh, I get it. You liked cleaning up, didn’t you?”
Lena’s scratched the back of her head. “N-No, of course not! Nobody likes cleaning! They just do it because they have to!”
“Uh huh. So, pray tell, what’s your left hand doing right now?”
Lena stopped scratching the back of her head. “That doesn’t mean anything! I’m not that kind of person!”
Maddie started laughing. “Oh? And what kind of person would that be?”
“I’m not a… homemaker, or whatever you think I am. I didn’t spend hundreds of thousands on college loans to end up dusting and doing dishes all day.”
“Who said anything about that? You know, you can have a career and do the dishes once in a while. And you don’t even have to work from home like I do.”
Lena winced. “I didn’t mean it like that, Maddie. I just… ugh, never mind.”
“No, what is it?” Maddie leaned forward and put her hand on Lena’s shoulder. “Seriously, you can tell me.
Lena looked down at the floor. “I just… I don’t wanna end up like Mom, alright? I’ve worked so hard, and I don’t want to throw that all away and spend the rest of my life being passive and getting fucked by a houseplant.”
Maddie pulled away. “Do you think I’d let that happen to you, Lena?”
“No, of course not. But I think I wouldn’t be able to stop myself if I gave in. Maddie, you have no idea what it’s like. When that wifesitter starts working on you, it’s… it’s probably better than any sex I’ve ever had.” She paused. “I mean, you’re still a 10/10, of course, but this is like an 11. Maybe a 12.”
“You really think I’m a 10? Wow, that’s really sweet of you. I think.”
“Maddie, this is serious.”
“Right, sorry. So, you’re saying that if I left you to your own devices, you’d wind up hooked on that thing?”
Lena looked into Maddie’s eyes. “Yeah. I’m positive.”
“Then we should get rid of it.”
“I’m not saying that.”
Maddie looked at her wife in surprise. “Really? But you just said-”
“I’m saying we need to be smart about it. How often does the wifesitter need to feed to stay alive?”
“It’ll apparently start getting hungry again after about three hours. I think as long as we feed it once a day, it’ll be fine.”
Lena stood up from the recliner and started pacing around the room. “Then we only use it once a day. Maybe right when I get home from work, or before I go to bed. As long as we keep it consistent, it should be fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“As much as I can be. And you said it yourself, you wouldn’t let me lose myself to that thing, right?”
“But I’m a worried that’s already started. You were terrified of that thing last night, and now you’re working out schedules for it. Doesn’t that seem strange to you?”
Lena shrugged. “If you tried it, you’d understand.”
“I seriously doubt that.”
Maddie moaned around the vine in her mouth. Her dull, glassy eyes gazed blankly at the bathroom ceiling. Another puff of pollen entered her nostrils, and they rolled back into her skull as she sank further into blankness.
Lena watched the scene unfold from the doorway. God damn, did I look that hot when it was fucking me? She almost felt jealous of Maddie as the vines pushed in and out, each thrust making Maddie’s curvaceous body jiggle and shake. Lena hadn’t realized how phallic the vines’ tips looked until now, but she wasn’t really surprised either. In a way, she was glad it was shaped like a dick. It felt a little less creepy than if it looked more plant-like.
As the two vines worked on Maddie’s mouth and pussy, Lena noticed two smaller vines making their way towards her wife’s chest. These didn’t have the dick-shaped tips, but instead what looked like flower blossoms. That didn’t happen last time, did it? The wifesitter unleashed another cloud of pollen, and when Maddie inhaled it, her arms pulled her t-shirt up to expose her pale breasts. The blossoms inched towards her chest and attached themselves to her nipples.
Lena felt a chill run up her spine. She stepped inside the room to pull Maddie out away from the wifesitter, but stopped when she saw what it was doing. The blossoms looked like they were suckling at Maddie’s breasts, and Lena noticed a white liquid dribbling down her chest. Holy shit. It’s milking her. I didn’t even know it could do that.
She froze in place, somewhat in awe of the sight of her wife being essentially spit-roasted and milked at the same time. If she wasn’t jealous before, she definitely was now. Maddie looked positively rapturous, like the combined sensations were overloading her mind with pleasure. She moaned so loudly that Lena was worried her neighbors might hear. She didn’t know how she would explain this if someone else saw.
After a few minutes, Maddie’s body spasmed as she climaxed. The vines withdrew back into the pot, and she laid on the floor in wifesitter-induced bliss. Lena went and got Maddie a glass of water and a towel, and by the time she got back Maddie was sitting up and seemed lucid. “So,” Lena asked, “what did you think?”
“I think you sold it short by calling it a 12/10 lay,” Maddie giggled. She took a sip of water. “We’re definitely keeping it. Holy fucking shit, Lena. Just… holy fucking shit.”
Lena pulled into the driveway and smiled to herself. Finally coming home before the sun goes down. Feels good.
It had been a week since Maddie first brought home the wifesitter. Since then, they’d moved it from the bathroom to a shed in the backyard; while both of them enjoyed using it, they didn’t want to deal with it every time they needed to use the toilet. Lena had negotiated at work to work less and less overtime, spinning a story about needing to cut back due to health reasons. Which was, in a way, true. But probably not the way her bosses were thinking.
She walked in the front door and announced, “Maddie! I’m home!” But she didn’t see Maddie in the living room, and she didn’t hear anyone else respond. She walked down the hallway, thinking Maddie might be in the master bedroom. She opened the door, but saw no one inside.
Just as Lena was starting to get concerned, she heard a thud coming from the living room. She ran over and saw Maddie sliding open the glass door and walking inside. She was naked, a bit of milk still dripping down her chest, and her cheeks were bright red. “H-Hey, Lena!”
Lena groaned. “Maddie, you used up the wifesitter! Now I gotta wait for it to get hungry again.”
“Sorry! I’m still not used to you actually coming home on time, I thought you’d be back later.” She walked over and gave Lena a big hug.
“Maddie, c’mon, you’re getting milk all over my suit!”
“I get cuddly after sex, sue me.”
Lena thought for a moment. “Y’know, I heard a sound when you opened the door.”
“Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Are you sure? It sounded an awful lot like someone walking into a big plane of glass.”
Maddie blushed. “…you can’t prove shit.”
Lena chuckled and hugged Maddie tighter. “I can’t stay mad at you, you’re too adorable.”
“That’s why you married me!”
“True. But now I gotta get changed, and you need to get dressed.”
Maddie pouted at her. “Aw. Do I have to? Is seeing your pretty wife naked all the time too distracting for you?”
“Maybe,” Lena replied with a giggle.
“Mmm…” Maddie kissed Lena’s neck. “Well, I’m not getting dressed. And if you’re gonna be distracted, it’s only fair that I’m distracted, too. Right?”
Lena grinned. “Oh, definitely.”
“So why don’t you get out of that suit…”
“…and help me with the dishes!”
Lena stared at Maddie, unamused. She crossed her arms in front of her chest in a vain attempt to cover her bare breasts. “I’ll pass, thanks.”
“Come on, Lena! You never help with the dishes, and it’s time you start pulling your own weight!”
“We don’t even have that many dishes!”
“So you can do them all yourself, then?”
Lena looked down at the floor. “…I’ll help you with the dishes.”
“Good!” Maddie flipped around and turned on the sink.
Soon, the two women were working away at the dishes. Lena focused on the simple, repetitive action of rinsing and scrubbing. It was refreshing to not have to think too hard about what she was doing. There was no room for doubt or decision-making. All she had to do was rinse and scrub. As time went on, she felt a pleasant buzz in the back of her head. She didn’t notice when she started humming an old pop song, nor did she notice Maddie giggling as she did so.
What finally did break her concentration was the egg timer going off. The harsh brrrrrrrrrring! sound snapped her out of her haze in an instant. Not just because it was a sudden and loud, but because of what it meant. She looked at Maddie, who sighed softly. “Well,” she said, “guess it’s your turn.”
Lena grinned, kissed Maddie on the cheek, and ran out the sliding door. She sprinted up to the shed and put in the code on the combination lock.
She opened the door.
Maddie wasn’t the only one who got cuddly after sex.
Lena clung to her wife like she was a big teddy bear. They laid together on the couch, binging some cooking show. It was simple and a bit mindless, but they both wanted that right now. They’d both been worn out from a day of work and plant-fucking.
“Do you think I could do that?” Lena asked when the chef displayed the result of his efforts.
“I didn’t know you liked cooking,” Maddie replied.
“I don’t. I just… I wanna know if I could.”
“Well, you’re pretty smart. If you follow a recipe, and look up the stuff you don’t know, you could definitely do it if you tried.”
“Hell yeah. I could kick this guy’s ass, probably.”
Maddie chuckled and kissed Lena’s cheek. “I’d make that bet. But, what’s with this new interest in cooking?”
“Well, it’s just simple, y’know? You get the recipe, you follow the instructions, and then you’ve got food.”
“I think it’s a little more complicated than that.”
“But you know what I mean.”
“Do I?”
Lena stayed silent. Maddie leaned in closer, whispering in Lena’s ear. “Does my dear, darling wife enjoy being a homemaker?”
Lena blushed. “Maybe.”
Maddie smiled smugly. “What was that, sweetheart? I’m afraid you’ll have to speak up.”
Lena sighed. “Yes, Maddie, I like being a homemaker. Want me to swear on a Bible, just to be sure?”
“Do we even own a Bible?”
Lena smacked Maddie’s shoulder. “Do you ever stop being a little shit?”
Maddie laughed and pulled Lena even closer. “Aww! You’re so cute when you’re mad!”
“I’m not mad! I just don’t know what’s come over me. It’s like, I’ve spent all this time on my career, working my way up the corporate ladder, doing all this work, and now it’s like I’m throwing it all away to go back to the 50s.”
“You’re not throwing it away. You were working yourself to death, Lena. Now you’re just scaling it back to something manageable, and you have an outlet for relaxing and relieving stress.”
Lena opened her mouth to respond, but the egg timer went off again. The two women turned and looked at it, and then back at each other.
“Well,” Lena smiled, “that’s not the only outlet.”
“Honey, I’m home!”
Maddie smiled when she heard Lena’s voice. She paused her writing playlist and stretched in her office chair. “Hey, Lena!” she called out as she got up and walked towards the living room. “How was work?”
“Eh, same old.”
When Maddie got to the living room, she smiled at the pile of Lena’s work clothes thrown on the couch. “Wow, that’s gotta be some kind of stripping record.” She looked up at Lena and paused. “Uh… what’s with the mask?”
Lena was wearing a ventilator mask, the kind someone would wear when working with spray-paint. It was the only thing she had on at the moment. She picked up the egg timer. “Hm. Still have an hour till the wifesitter’s ready.”
“Oh, sorry. If you wanna use it now, I think you can wake it up-”
“Oh, that’s no problem. We don’t have to wait.”
“Why’s that?”
Lena took off the mask and grinned. She stepped aside, and Maddie gasped.
The wifesitter sat in a clay pot on the kitchen counter. Its bulbs opened, and a cloud of yellow pollen filled the air.
