Sir-Rebro smiles.

“Can you hear me, Lillian?” I slowly nod.

“Good. I have some very important things to tell you, Lillian. Things that will become your thoughts, that will become your reason for being. Do you understand?”

I nod again.

“Wonderful, I want you to repeat back what I tell you. Your life was saved by Sir-Rebro.”

“My life was saved by Sir-Rebro.”

“Your life belongs to Sir-Rebro.”

“My life belongs to Sir-Rebro.”

“Sir-Rebro is your master.”

“Sir-Rebro is my master.”

“You are Sir-Rebro’s Brain-Slave.”

“I am Sir-Rebro’s Brain-Slave.”

“Your purpose is to do Sir-Rebro’s bidding.”

“My purpose is to do Sir-Rebro’s bidding.”

He grinned.

“Now Lillian, I want you to combine all these ideas I just gave you. They will become your new purpose, an unshakable truth that you believe with all your heart and soul.”

“Yes, Sir-Rebro.” Everything is starting to come together, becoming so clear.

Sir-Rebro is the reason I’m even still alive. I’d have fallen to my death if it wasn’t for him. Well, his robot is the one who stopped me but he’s the one who sent it. He kept me from falling over the edge, figuratively and literally.

So it makes sense that my life belongs to Sir-Rebro now. Even after he saved me I still intended to kill myself. Disregard his kindness. I didn’t see my life as having any value. He did. He did what he thought was best for me even though I couldn’t appreciate it. He had to hypnotize me in order to keep me from doing anything rash.

Knowing all that, I can see why I should accept Sir-Rebro as my master. He knows what’s best for me. He offered me a chance to make something of myself and knew better than to take no for an answer. I need him to oversee me, keep me from making any choices that could lead to me hurting myself. I need him to guide me. I need him to control me.

Which would, naturally make me Sir-Rebro’s Brain-Slave. I have no choice but to obey. This is what has to be done so that I can keep living. I am under his total control. This is for my own good. His mind control will keep me from ever considering doing anything so drastic again. I am no longer free.

Which doesn’t bother me since my purpose in life is to do Sir-Rebro’s bidding. It’s my purpose as his Brain-Slave, my reason to be. And it sounds so grand. I don’t even know what he intends for me to do but I’m certain I’ll love it. His plans will be the reason I get up in the morning with a spring in my step. His orders will give me the drive to push forward no matter what.

I will do whatever he commands of me, be it simply cleaning his lair or killing. For that is my purpose.

That is Sir-Rebro’s gift to me.

The light in his goggles fades. I shake my head a little. When I look at him again, I feel awestruck. This man, this wondrous man, has pulled me back from the abyss.

“Release,” he says. The robot lets go of me and I walk a little closer to Sir-Rebro. I feel so energetic when I look at him. Before I know it, I’m on my knees in front of him.

“Master,” I tell him. “I…I can’t even begin to thank you.” He laughs.

“You will thank me through your service, Lillian.” I giggle.

“Of course, master. What do you wish for your Brain-Slave?”

“I wish to give you a tour of your new home,” he replied. “And from there, we will discuss what I have planned for you.” He holds out his hand and I take it in mine, using it to pull me up.

“I can’t wait, master.”
