Persuasive writing

MONDAY
Catherine Scott stood in front of her senior philosophy class, wrapping up a lesson Descartes. She liked teaching seniors, by then most of the students only took the class because they cared. She really only had one student who seemed to be coasting, Richard Starlin.
“Alright class, that's going to be in for today, have fun at home. Richard, can you please stay behind a second, we have to discuss something.”
Ms. Scott dismissed the philosophy class. She hated having to single out a student like this, but she didn't have much choice. Richard had stayed behind an extra year for a “victory lap,” an option for those who needed to raise their grades for university, or people who had no idea where they wanted to go after high school, and she was pretty sure Richard was the latter. He never participated in class discussions, but his work was normally serviceable, until his most recent assignment.
“What can I do for you Ms. Scott?” his voice cracked with nerves.
He has to know how badly he did on his essay, Ms. Scott thought. He looked so scared he was sweating.
“We need to talk about your essay, I expect you to at least pretend to put in effort in my class.” She pulled a single sided page of paper out of a folder on her desk, it was covered in handwriting in pink ink.
“No part of this is acceptable, why isn't this typed, why is it only one page long, and why in god's name did you write in pink?”
“Sorry Ms. Scott, I didn't think it would be such an issue, I wrote it by hand so you'd know for sure it wasn't ai, I thought you would like a bit of a change in colour, and even if it's not the longest, I'm really proud of what I wrote, and I think if you read it you'll agree with me.”
Ms. Scott looked at Richard with pity, he looked so nervous he was practically shaking, maybe he was trying to raise his grades after all.
“Alright, we'll go over this together, and if I think you put in effort, I'll see what I can do.” She didn't think there would be a lot here, but if the paper touched on the topic, she may be able to justify letting him rewrite it. Starting from the top of the page, she started reading out loud.
“Ms. Scott, when you first read this paper you will stop reading at the end of this paragraph. You will tell me to stay after class, and then you'll finish reading. You will also forget that you started reading this until you revisit it with me.”
Ms. Scott was surprised, she could have sworn she hadn't bothered to read any of Richard's writing after seeing the shoddy presentation, but as she read memories started to come back of sitting at home grading essays and starting the paper before giving up on it.
“See, this is a weird opening, it doesn't introduce any argument you're going to make, and it's just plain forgettable, if you had asked me a minute ago I would say I hadn't even started your paper, now continuing on.
I am your favorite student, you putting in the effort to help with this essay is proof enough. You love that I'm an adult, and can treat me like a peer instead of someone in your care.”
Ms. Scott looked up at Richard, her head swam, the feelings of frustration and pity melted away, and were replaced by affection. The belief that Richard never contributed to class was because he had nothing to say morphed into the belief that he was just trying to allow other students to talk. Richard was a great student, and Ms. Scott really wanted to help him pass this.
“How is it so far Ms. Scott?”
Catherine couldn't believe how nervous he sounded, her heart broke that she had made him feel so bad about his work.
“You are starting to make arguments, but they should support a strong thesis. Some rewriting can help with this, but let me finish reading and I'll decide what to do. And please, call me Catherine, Ms. Scott sounds so weird coming from you.” Turning back down to the essay Catherine read, “Since I am an adult, and your favourite student, it makes sense you would want to give me special treatment.”
This made sense, she'd hate to see Richard fail and would go above and beyond to help him.
“For example if a normal student made sexual comments about you, you would hate it, but for me you'd love it. In fact, since taboo relationships like between teacher and student is such a common fetish, you probably get really turned on by it.”
Catherine froze, she wasn't sure that this was the kind of special treatment she should be giving him. She knew why he would want to talk dirty to her, she was hot, even if she never showed off in the classroom. Her baggy jeans and shirt hid her curves, she never wore makeup, and her long brunette hair stayed in a ponytail. The idea was hot though. She remembered being his age and watching porn of girls in little school girl outfits seducing their teacher, or busty teachers in tight button ups getting fucked in exchange for better grades. Richard was an adult, so surely he had seen similar movies, and if he wanted to indulge in the fantasy of a shared fetish, what was the harm?
In conclusion, you really want to give me a chance to turn in a better, even more convincing essay.”
Catherine set the paper down, her head throbbed, usually it was only like this after a full night of grading, but something about this short essay got to her.
“Now Richard, if I let you rewrite this at home, do you think you can do a better job?”
“Probably not Catherine, the problem with homework for this class is that whenever I start thinking of the material, I think of you, and I start getting so horny I have to stop and jack off.”
The room got quiet, for a brief second Catherine felt furious, then it gave way to a wave of arousal. She smiled at the thought of Richard pumping his hard cock, and her ripples stiffened.
“How about this then, everyday this week you stay behind an hour and write here in class. I can review what you're done, make sure you're on the right track, and then you can go home and masturbate to the thought of me guilt free.”
Richard got red in the face and stammered, “that sounds good, thanks Catherine, I'll see you tomorrow.”
Then he grabbed his bag and rushed out of the classroom.
Richard practically ran to his bus stop, still struggling to catch his breath when he boarded. Sitting down Richard pulled a bright pink pen out of his bag. He couldn't believe it had worked. When he got called up after class he was certain Ms. Scott was going to get him expelled for writing about sex, even when he had actually said something he was certain she was going to lose it.
He would have to be careful, the instructions that came with the pink pen had said to connect ideas, non sequiturs would be rejected by the reader. The connection between liking him, and liking sexual comments was flimsy, but now that he had broached the topic of sex he should hopefully be able to work off of that.
He'd have to prepare an outline, he needed to make sure his arguments built off each other, and that he wasn't pushing her too far. The warning with the pen said most people could only handle about a page a day.
Richard couldn't believe it, but he may end up putting more work into this than any other essay he had written.
