I felt my thoughts jumble, disconnect. Concepts and images moved through my mind without any cohesion, direction, or logic.

“Aww, poor thing,” they said. “I think it’s starting to take hold.”

“I don’t understand…” I responded softly.

“Trance,” they said, the word mixing into the mental soup. “It’s okay. You don’t need to understand. Let go of the need to understand what is happening.”

I felt a shift, and I didn’t. My thought processes continued to stir. I watched them, from a distance.

“This confusion you’re feeling is a sign that you are entering an altered state. Embrace your confusion. It’s arousing, isn’t it?”

I felt a simmer in my sex, but this too was mixed in with the other feelings, melting into a soft, befuddling slurry. My partner fueled this, casually groping me from behind, but their actions, too, blended with everything else.

“Isn’t this just delicious?” they encouraged. “But then, even that word, that meaning, confounds you. Overwhelms your mind. But you don’t have to worry about it. You can stop worrying about anything at all.”

They snapped their fingers. I moaned.

“Just let go,” they suggested. “Let the trance take hold. You can trust your mind to follow my suggestions without understanding them.”
