I suddenly feel an arm around my shoulder forcefully tug me, and a cloth being forcefully shoved onto my mouth.

“What!? Hey!” I try to say, but the words come out as muffled screams.

“Shhhhh…” I hear a voice say. “It’s time, my love. Time to fall…”

My partner!? But they really could have chosen a better time… for… this…

“Deep breaths.”

My breathing is still panicked, but I take in more of the cloth’s scent. It’s soothingly sweet. My breath starts to slow.

My Switch has fallen out of my hand. I distantly hear my game top out.

“That’s good…” my partner says. “That’s good…”

My arms start to go numb and slack. My head slumps down, coming to a rest on my partner’s shoulder. My eyelids start to flutter closed. I remember how this is going to go.

“You really could have picked a better time…” I attempt to speak, but again, the words are muffled out into relaxed moans against the damp cloth.

“Ssh. Don’t speak,” my partner suggested, their voice softening to a whisper in my ear. “You really ought to close your eyes before the next stage begins. Your eyelids must be exhausted.”

The room was spinning. Their words felt so nice to listen to. My eyelids gave one last flutter, then closed.

“Good,” my partner whispered. “Now the next stage can begin.”

My body had gone completely numb, and now my mind was starting to succumb to the same effect. I felt my thoughts and memories sparkle and twinkle away, blotted out by the saccharine smell of the cloth.
