so, i’ve really been loving j-a. super super fun, loving it way more than jarlet and jiolet. and look, i didn’t hate jarlet and jiolet, but i thought they had a lot of wasted potential. but j-a is super, super hitting.

but i wanted to say that upfront because i feel like there’s been this shift in the jokémon series recently, and it kinda feels weird??? i think it kinda started with jokémon go. i know the motto has always been “gotta nab all of them,” but they’ve really been emphasizing it with the past few games by providing lot of mechanical rewards for filling out your jokédex. like, yeah, when i was growing up with jed and jlue, you needed to register ten species to get the flash HM, but other than that, all the jokédex rewards were super optional. i always played those games just by nabbing the jokémon i wanted for my team. but now they give you TMs and balls and bottlecaps and stuff. and i guess that’s good design, since it encourages people to engage with a huge part of the premise? but it feels weird, like your relationship with each individual jokémon is less important than how many you’ve nabbed.

JARIZARD420: Didn’t you just set a world record for biggest lesbian orgy? How is the focus on numbers in the Jokédex any different from getting the biggest possible number of lesbians to have sex?

so that’s a good question, jarizard, thanks for asking. and i think what makes it feel different is the “catch and release” structure. so, like, in jarceus, you got a bunch of rewards for filling out your jokédex, including nabbing multiples of the same species, but you also got rewards for releasing your extra jokémon back into the wild. and i would say i did something similar for my world record; almost all those women got let go to back to their regular lives, and the ones i’m keeping for my harem, i’m gonna develop a much more personal relationship with. and i don’t think j-a has that same system from jarceus? i’ve got like twenty boxes of jokémon i never use.
