Centuries before the Compact would ever know of humanity, an Affini gets thrown from the future into a small clearing in California in 2005, meeting two most adorable stoners and embarking on a quest to fix the past, ensure the future, and pet some truly deserving sophonts.

On June 29th, 1971, three Soviet Cosmonauts on Soyuz 11, who without intervention would’ve died in re-entry, are picked up by the Affini Compact, and on that same day one year later, the Compact announces it’s presence to a shocked humanity. Earth would never be the same.
