Prompt: "Promise"

Meeting

I was in our dream world.

I was dreading this moment, but after two sleepless days it was inevitable.

She was here too. Our ethereal fingers linked together. I had missed this. It was different, now, but it was still a lot of the same.

"Why aren't we together ?" Her words were echoing my own thoughts.

"Because you've been taken. I'm trying to get you back."

"You promised we'll stay together forever. So why are you staying away ?"

That was my argument. What I would tell her once I saw her. The way I would break her out.

"I can't lose you to her. I want to be with you."

She shook her head. "She said She'd keep us both. You're the one breaking our promise by staying away."

I froze.

She... Was right. I could choose to serve alongside her, or to keep fighting her mistress. She didn't have that choice.

I hated how logical this was, and what the conclusion meant.

Her hands left mine.

"You know Her number. She's waiting."

Her face was becoming blurry. The dream was fading.

My eyes opened. They were full of tears.

I wiped them before reaching for my phone.

Notes:

I like the idea of one person dragging the other into enslavement, especially with the promise to stay together in servitude. There's a few stories with that theme that inspired me a lot, but the ones that I tend to think about are mostly about friends/sisters instead of lovers (Trilby Else's Bridesmaid and Hive, Trixie Adara's My Best Friend's Girlfriend, Softi's Playing and Saving Abby, etc...).

But for this, I kinda feel like the setting was way too strong for this plot, with both of the lovers able to meet in their dreams (an idea I totally got from Madam Kistulot's The Argentum Project, where it's a minor plotpoint). Writing it down wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. It's really more on the bittersweet side of things.

Definitely an idea I'd like to explore some more, though.
