Prompt: "Clothing"

Plain clothes

"Hey, Em ?"

Emily excused herself from her conversation before turning towards Sarah.

"I think there's something wrong with my clothes."

"What ? Why ?"

"Well, every time I talk to someone, they keep staring at my chest and... Hey ! You're doing it too !"

"Sorry, sorry." said Emily, quickly looking straight up to Sarah. "But, you like that hoodie, right ?"

"Yeah, it's comfy, but..."

"And your pants are nice, right ?"

"Well, they're a bit too baggy, but..."

"And you don't mind when my friends stare, right ?"

"No, I love it ! But..."

"What's the problem, then ?"

"They shouldn't !" exclaimed Sarah ! "My clothes are boring as fuck ! I haven't looked that plain since I was, like, seventeen ! I don't understand why people keep checking me out. And you're doing it again !"

"Sorry." said Emily with a grin. "But, maybe you just look amazing. You're a freakin' bombshell, and even baggy clothes can't hide that."

"You think ?"

"I'm sure of it, Sarah ! Now, stop worrying, go back to the party, and enjoy yourself !"

"Yeah ! Sorry for bothering !" said Sarah cheerfully before walking away.

The sway of her bare hips turned a few heads.

"How did you... ?" asked Emily's conversation partner.

Her only answer was a smile.

Notes:

I'd say that starting from here, there's less and less direct inspirations for my answers, and I start to come up with ideas of my own more easily (or maybe the line started to blur and I got worse at finding out what inspired me... Who knows ?).

For this story in particular, I can't find any direct inspiration that could have caused this answer. There's plenty of stories that explored that, but I just can't remember any specific one that would really fit.

As I said before, people being put on display by others is just a theme I really enjoy in general, so that ended up being the idea I picked this week !
